Conversations with Anastasia St. John

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anastasia St. John.

Hi Anastasia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always been drawn to creative things. My journey really began when I started posting content online, where I shared what that inspired me and found ways to express myself through my personal style and aesthetic. After losing my dad in 2019, I threw myself into another creative outlet and started my vintage business as a way to combine my love of history and fashion. As my audience has grown, I’ve had the opportunity to work with brands I align with while continuing to grow my vintage shop, where I curate special pieces and give them new life. Today, my work blends my passions and allows me to connect with like minded people who also appreciate the beauty in the details.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey hasn’t been a smooth road. One of the hardest seasons of my life was losing my dad. I felt lost and was desperate to handle my pain in a productive way. I channeled all of my energy into a new creative outlet to take my mind away from my sadness which ultimately led to my passion for vintage. Building a business while navigating grief came with it’s own set of challenges, but it also gave me a sense of direction during a difficult time. I found a way to create something meaningful from my pain. Through moments of uncertainty, perfectionism and balancing multiple responsibilities, I learned as I went and every difficulty helped me grow.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a content creator and vintage seller with a passion for beauty, art and style. Through my content, I share the things that inspire me. My vintage shop allows me to curate pieces I love and connect them with people who will appreciate them. I’m most proud of building my social media presence and my vintage business from the ground up while staying true to what feels authentic to me. I think my attention to detail and my appreciation for quality set me apart. Whether I’m sourcing vintage or sharing beauty recommendations, I am always paying attention to craftsmanship and the little details that make things special.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I’ve never considered myself a huge risk taker. I’m naturally detail-oriented, so I like to think things through before making big decisions. For me, taking a risk doesn’t mean acting impulsively, it means doing my research, weighing my options and moving forward once I feel comfortable and confident in my decision.

Starting my vintage business and putting myself out there online as a content creator were both risks in their own way. There is never a guarantee that something will succeed, but you will never know unless you try! I’ve learned that growth often comes from stepping outside of your comfort zone and being consistent. I don’t believe that every risk has to be spontaneous. Sometimes the best decisions are the ones with genuine passion behind them that you just feel in your heart are right for you.
