Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Pop.
Hi Alexandra, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Spotted Nose Designs was inspired by our two rescue dogs. My husband and I had been wanting to start our own business for a while and we knew we wanted it to involve dogs. He had built a feeder for our dogs because they are very messy eaters and that was the product that launched it all. It was a huge hit and from there we were able to branch out to different products. I had recently been introduced to biothane and I loved it. I wanted to make it more accessible for pet owners as it’s such a great material. It’s waterproof, stink-proof, durable, and super easy to clean. It was perfect for us since we adventure a lot with our own dogs. It really helped our business take off and since then we’ve just been able to slowly expand. Everything is fully customizable and we offer a very large variety of colors and hardware. We can’t wait to keep growing and see what the future holds for our small business.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Fortunately, it’s been relatively smooth most of the way. There was a lot of trial and error with all of our products until we came up with the perfect designs. We’re always tweaking and adjusting to make sure they’re up to our standards. I think our biggest hurdle has been finding high-quality and durable materials and hardware. We both have full-time jobs outside of Spotted Nose so sometimes it’s difficult to find the time and energy to get everything done, but we still manage to pull it off somehow.
Thanks – so, what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Spotted Nose Designs started off with wooden elevated feeders for dogs. Shortly after launch, we added biothane collars and leashes. Since then, we’ve been able to expand the amount of products we offer in both categories. We also sell wooden shelving, dog beds, and custom crates. Our biothane gear selection has expanded to many different types of collars, including ones specific for the Fi GPS device and leashes. We offer as many colors as are made by Biothane and different sizes and styles. Our wood products can also be personalized, including with epoxy designs. We’ve also introduced natural pet soap bars and paw balms (all made by my mom, so it’s a true family endeavor :)). Everything is handmade by us, and we truly put our hearts into every product that we make, so we love when our customers get excited about their orders.
