Conversations with Adam Allport

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Allport

Hi Adam, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My passion for the automotive industry started at a very young age when my dad introduced me to F1. This started a lifelong drive to be as close to the action as possible. Growing up I moved to a few different schools and finally settled in a town with more cows than people (or cars). This started one challenge that I still face today, not many local events/cars close to home. This didn’t stop my love, knowledge, and drive for anything automotive related. When I got to high school, I noticed my affinity for photography. Not having the money to buy a nice camera, my phone was my best friend. My dad took me to the Belle Isle Grand Prix a few years growing up and this got me a close-up to what was to be my life. A few years went by before I took the chance and invested in myself to start this business, and if I could go back I would do it again! I have now covered a few events as media and have even more scheduled for next year. I cannot thank my followers and supporters in my family enough!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say that it has been far from a smooth road but nothing bad! One of my biggest struggles along the way started with getting out of my comfort zone and not being nervous to meet new people and start a conversation. My other struggle was learning a “fancy” camera by myself in such a short time. I picked up my first camera in July of 2024 and I immediately fell in love and knew this is what I was meant to do.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work is covering any and all automotive events with my cameras! This includes car meets, cruises, events, races and also working for individual clients to meet their needs. I specialize in motion shots like Rollers and panning images. A roller is when I capture motion blur in the cars wheels and the background while keeping the subject in focus, usually while in a car in front of it. Panning shots are taken with me stationary but same sort of premise. I am most proud of finally doing something that has been a dream for years and getting into something that is a true passion. What sets me apart from others is my work ethic, drive to keep growing my knowledge, knowing not to become to sure of myself and what happens behind the scenes! The year 2025 has some big things in store for the company that will truly be different than the average small photographer.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
The best thing about Lansing is not only the diversity of people, but the variety of the builds around the area. We are about an hour from each coast of Michigan, and they offer many different events, clubs, races and cruises. My least favorite thing about where I am located is not the city itself but the state. I do not like the fact that for a few months every year the car scene is very minimal due to weather.
