Today we’d like to introduce you to Taris Smith.
Hi Taris, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always been passionate about storytelling and helping people bring ideas to life. That passion led me to earn a degree in Media Communications and Family Studies from Western Michigan University and eventually start Smith Transition Productions LLC. Somewhere along the way, I realized I genuinely enjoy talking about branding… which sounds a lot nerdier than it actually is.
What began as offering social media services quickly evolved into helping entrepreneurs build intentional brands. I realized many business owners didn’t just need content—they needed clarity, strategy, and confidence in how they shared their story. That’s become my favorite part of the work.
Today, I work full-time as a Transaction Specialist at JPMorgan & Chase while continuing to grow my business. Some days I’m organizing transactions, other days I’m organizing someone’s brand—and honestly, I love having a foot in both worlds.
I’m still learning, still growing, and still passionate about helping people tell their stories in a way that connects with others. If I can help someone feel more confident about putting themselves out there, I’d say I’m doing exactly what I’m supposed to be doing.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road. Like many business owners, there have been seasons where clients were booking consistently and seasons that were much quieter. But if I’m being honest, some of my biggest challenges have been self-doubt and idea overload.
I’m naturally a creative person, so ideas come pretty easily. The harder part is choosing one, sticking with it, and actually getting started. It’s funny because sometimes having too many good ideas can be just as overwhelming as having none at all.
What’s helped me the most is accountability. Having people in my corner who encourage me and challenge me has made a huge difference. I’ve also realized that time isn’t waiting for anyone. Watching friends and colleagues reach goals they had been working toward didn’t discourage me—it reminded me that progress comes from taking action. Nobody reaches their goals by waiting for the perfect moment.
I’m still learning, but I’ve become much better at taking imperfect action instead of waiting until everything feels perfectly planned out.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Smith Transition Productions LLC is all about helping people communicate their story with confidence. While we still offer services like social media management, content creation, photography, and brand strategy, I’ve found myself doing more creative consulting over the past year—and I absolutely love it. There’s something exciting about sitting down with a client, organizing all the ideas floating around in their head, and turning them into a clear, actionable plan.
What sets my business apart is that I don’t believe in cookie-cutter solutions. Every entrepreneur has a different story, different goals, and different challenges, so I take the time to understand the person before jumping into the strategy.
I’m most proud of how the business has evolved. I started by helping people post online, but now I’m helping them build intentional brands from the ground up. My goal is for every client to leave with more clarity, confidence, and a roadmap they can actually use—not just another folder full of ideas they’ll never act on.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I’d just encourage anyone with a dream to start. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you take the first step. I’ve learned that confidence often comes after you begin, not before.
I’d also encourage people to invest in relationships. Some of the biggest opportunities in my life have come from genuine connections, conversations, and people who were willing to pour into me.
Finally, don’t underestimate the power of your story. Whether you’re building a business, changing careers, or chasing a new goal, your experiences are what make you unique. Keep learning, keep growing, and don’t be afraid to let people see the real you.
