Community Highlights: Meet TaiLour of TaiLour Made Enterprise Inc.

Today we’d like to introduce you to TaiLour.

Hi TaiLour, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been dancing since I was five years old, and dance has always been a huge part of who I am. However, dance wasn’t my only passion growing up. I was also fascinated by media arts, storytelling, photography, videography, and the creative process behind bringing ideas to life.

After graduating from high school in 2017, I decided to explore that passion academically and pursued studies in Television and Digital Media Production at Ferris State University. I later transferred to Eastern Michigan University, but like many students during that time, COVID-19 created an unexpected shift in my journey and ultimately became a setback in completing my studies.

Coming home during that period opened the door to a completely different chapter of my life. I began taking dance classes again, eventually joining dance programs and training more seriously, with a focus on hip-hop and heels. I was essentially stepping into a new dance career as an adult, rediscovering something I had loved since childhood but now seeing it through a completely different lens.

At the same time, I stepped into the education field. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to serve in several roles, including media technician, librarian, school secretary, and substitute teacher. I also began working professionally as a hip-hop instructor with studios, schools, and organizations throughout the Metro Detroit area.

Looking back, I realize that none of those experiences were separate from one another. My background in media taught me how to create, communicate, and bring ideas to life. Education taught me how to work with young people, families, schools, and communities. Dance taught me discipline, confidence, creativity, and the importance of expression.

All of those experiences, skills, and passions eventually came together to create what we now know as TaiLour Made Enterprise.

Today, TaiLour Made Enterprise allows me to combine the different parts of my journey into one vision…dance, education, media, mentorship, entertainment, and community impact. What started as my personal love for performing has grown into something much bigger than me. I’m now able to create opportunities and experiences for others while continuing to build a company that reflects everything I’ve learned along the way.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. There are always going to be obstacles and challenges throughout life in general, and entrepreneurship is no different. However, I’ve learned that I’m willing to face those challenges as they come because I’ve seen firsthand the positive impact this work has on not only on me, but on my team and the community we serve.

One of my biggest challenges has been learning how to balance everything at once. As an entrepreneur, especially while building a growing company, you quickly realize that there are both small and large responsibilities that constantly need your attention. At the same time, I’m still a person with my own personal goals, relationships, dreams, and life outside of the business. Learning how to pour into all of those areas without completely pouring myself empty has been an ongoing lesson for me.

I would say the most challenging part mentally has been overcoming the fear of letting my community down. There was a point when I realized that TaiLour Made Enterprise was no longer just about me or something I was building for myself. There are team members who believe in the vision, young people who look forward to our programs, families who trust us with their children, and schools and organizations that depend on us to deliver.

That realization can come with a lot of pressure, but it has also given me an even greater sense of purpose. I’m learning that leadership doesn’t mean having everything figured out or never experiencing challenges. It means continuing to show up, being willing to learn, making adjustments when necessary, and remembering why you started.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
TaiLour Made Enterprise is not just a dance company we’re a full service entertainment and creative arts company.

We provide professional dance instruction, theatrical production assistance and choreography, event entertainment, creative direction for business commercials, performing arts education and mentorship. We serve individuals, schools, businesses, community organizations, and youth.

What makes us special is that our TME family isn’t limited to one age group or one type of client. It’s made up of people of all ages and at different stages of life, along with businesses, schools, and community organizations that believe in the power of the arts.

At the core of TaiLour Made Enterprise, we’re about bringing people together. Whether it’s through a performance, a class, a production, an event, or a creative project, we use the arts to create experiences, build connections, and make an impact within our communities.

I’m most proud of the impact that we have made in less than a year of business operations. Another word I would say is blessed.

How do you define success?
I don’t define success by the amount of money we make or the number of clients we have. For me, success is really about the impact I’m able to make whether that’s on one person or 10,000 people. If something I’ve created, taught, or produced can positively affect someone’s life, that means more to me than any number ever could.

I also believe success is being able to genuinely enjoy the life you’re building. Being at peace, being happy, and being proud of the work I’m doing and the people I’m impacting… that’s what success looks like to me.
