Wendell and I have always shared a deep love for travel. It’s a passion that began during our courtship and has remained a cornerstone of our relationship ever since. Exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and spending quality time together while traveling has been one of the keys to our successful marriage.
Over time, we realized how transformative travel can be for couples—it strengthens bonds, creates unforgettable memories, and allows people to reconnect away from the distractions of daily life. This inspired us to start Black Love Black Travel as a way to encourage other couples to step outside of their comfort zones, prioritize their relationships, and experience the joy of travel.
Our journey has been incredibly rewarding, and we’re passionate about building a community of like-minded couples who value love, connection, and adventure.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. Wendell and I both work full-time jobs, which means we can’t travel as often as we would like. Balancing our careers, the demands of social media, and growing our travel business has its challenges.
Managing multiple responsibilities while staying consistent with content creation and engaging with our community can feel overwhelming at times. However, we’ve learned the importance of prioritization, staying organized, and being intentional about our goals. Despite the challenges, our passion for inspiring couples to travel keeps us motivated, and we’re grateful for the progress we’ve made along the way.

What we like least is the negative stigma that sometimes surrounds the city. It often overshadows the incredible growth, talent, and opportunities here. Detroit is so much more than the stereotypes, and we’re proud to be part of a community that continues to thrive and prove the doubters wrong.
