Community Highlights: Meet Sarah McDaid of SOIL Scalp Spa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah McDaid

Hi Sarah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have been in the beauty industry for over a decade and finally found my true passion 3 years ago in scalp care and herbalism. I went back to get my education and certification as a hair loss practitioner as well as a skin and scalp care specialist.
I had heard and seen several years ago on social media of these services called “Japanese head spa” . As I looked into it further I decided that was what I wanted to do. It combines everything I am passionate about! Herbalism, as well as skin and scalp care!
After much research and further education in the head spa world I finally opened up west michigans very first head spa experience. I started to create fun social media content using ASMR sounds and visuals to help broadcast my new passion of scalp care treatments aka head spa!
Since then, I have also created my own holistic skincare and scalp care line which I formulate and hand make from herbs and essential oils at my husband and I’s botanical farm in Paw Paw!
My passion continues to grow and open more doors and I have so much more planed for 2025 as far as services, and holistic products!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has always been pretty clear of what I wanted to strive for once I made the connection of skincare, scalp care and herbalism.
However, I did have 2 babies during the process of all of this! My daughter is 3 and my son is 1.5. It was challenging at times balancing being a mom and also work, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. My kids and my amazing Husband are what keep me motivated.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My business offers personalized scalp care and skincare care services that range from people dealing with hair loss of any kind, psoriasis, dandruff, dry scalp etc! Or someone who simply needs a safe relaxing environment to treat themselves with self care!
My holistic skincare and scalp care line is made in small batches (for now) and restock dates are always listed on my social media platforms.
I love creating videos to give people behind the scenes of me making my products! As well as ASMR videos for our scalp spa/facial side!

I am proud that I am a woman owned business and I can with confidence say we were the first to do these services in our area! We are booked out 3-4 months in advance and we love every single client that walks through our doors.
I am also so honored and proud to share my business with my sister (Cody) who I have trained in all things scalp care and head spa service related! She is amazing and we both share the same passion to help people relax and feel their very best. Knowing theyre in a safe judgement free environment.
