Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Jamgotch.
Hi Ryan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Music has always been the only option for me – it was a passion of mine ever since I was six years old. While young, I found myself scrambling to find a career path that society deemed “worthwhile,” but my heart continued to run toward music. To me, having a “Plan B” for my career doesn’t exist, which pushes me to focus and work on my dream.
Growing up, I found myself in a band playing guitar and singing. I recorded our band, learning the basics and figuring it out as I went. Despite how much I grew from playing in a band, I found passion in the field of recording. From exposure through internships and networks, I took the leap to record my first album for my first client, Emma Bieniewicz, when I was 19 in the Grand Rapids Community College music practice rooms. From there, I have developed skills through obtaining a GRCC Digital Audio Specialist certification and recording local artists in the Grand Rapids area.
After finding success in recording others, my friends encouraged me that I could go on and create a strong recording business on my own, and with the help of friends and connections, I launched Electric Moon Studios in 2017. From recording in my bedroom to having a fully functioning, established studio has been a whirlwind, and I am so proud to be producing and editing music for dozens of artists from a variety of genres.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a smooth road! From starting a business from scratch to learning to trust if I’m on the right path has been tough to work through. Some struggles are professional– like working with other genres that I was not previously familiar with or learning how to market myself and my business. However, some are personal, like learning to manage doubt from myself and others. Creating a healthy work-life balance is always a challenge, but as I’ve grown in the business and personally, I am finding ways to meet these challenges head-on. Despite these struggles, it has all been worth it!
As you know, we’re big fans of Electric Moon Studios. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Electric Moon Studios is a Grand Rapids-based creative music production studio. Services that I provide include recording audio, mixing, and mastering audio tracks for bands, solo artists, and other creatives. At my studio, I produce radio-ready content for a variety of genres– pop, rock, hip-hop, blues, singer-songwriter, and so much more. I am known for being professional, collaborative, flexible, and attentive to the unique needs of my clients. Electric Moon Studios is opening into podcasting, voice-over, and other post-production services.
What sets me apart from others is that I truly listen to the artist and work creatively to produce content that is emotional and captivating. I consider all perspectives and experiences of the artist, the listener, and everyone involved in the content-creating process. When working with Electric Moon Studios, clients receive 100% dedication and attention that they deserve, and I work tirelessly to create a product that is truly something to be proud of.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
I love working on new projects with new clients. I enjoy finding different perspectives and blending new ideas and genres from the musical spectrum. I pride myself on being helpful to my clients in the ways they need and providing a product that they have been desperately looking for. Once I finish projects, I value the feedback from the artist in order to improve. I love experimenting and finding new sound combinations and techniques that make people surprised by what is possible with sound. Most of all, I am happy to make new connections with artists and do what I love to do – music.
