Community Highlights: Meet Dr. Rubina Tahir of The Joint North Ann Arbor

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Rubina Tahir.

Hi Dr. Tahir, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I was born and raised in The Forest City, London, Ontario, Canada. Growing up my parents told me I would spend hours playing doctor with my stuffed animals. Naturally in my undergraduate studies, I gravitated towards a Bachelor degree in biology. I knew I wanted to heal people – but how? My mother is a breast cancer survivor, and watching her journey intensified my views of self-therapy with one goal: to be able to heal people naturally. I fell in love with the chiropractic profession and spent summers shadowing practitioners. I chose to attend New York Chiropractic College and graduated in 2005. Since graduation, I have treated thousands of patients in private practice in both Canada and the USA, learning that people want to be heard and understood. Using experiences and insight, I started an online community through my website, creating articles and information packets for a new audience. This led me to think bigger and in 2016, I launched Positivity and Truth, a growing online community of 20.2K women, filling a need to come together in a safe and healthy environment. This innovative growth I calls #PositivityCulture. It is a place to share knowledge and be inspired by other women who love gritty, bold moves that get us what we want in life, love, and work.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I have moved a few times, from Toronto to Philly and now Ann Arbor. It was overwhelming at times, and I would wonder if I had what it takes to build from scratch. I believe resilience is a discipline – I would work on myself daily and be proud of the work I put into the world. I am so grateful to be able to interact with people in a healing environment. Creating a safe place for patients to come in is the most important thing for me. You have to start somewhere, and with hard work, honesty, and my husband and daughter beside me, I have been able to build a beautiful Chiropractic practice.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The Joint is reinventing chiropractic care by making quality healthcare affordable for patients seeking pain relief and ongoing wellness. I am a chiropractor known for empowering others on their unique self-care journey. No two people are the same, and I take an individual approach to healing. I am known for contributing to the media – offering health advice and expert opinion. I have been featured in Reader’s Digest, Men’s Health, Cosmopolitan, Bustle, and Prevention Magazine to name a few. I believe health education goes beyond the typical office treatment, so I work hard to get knowledge out into the universe so others can make an informed decision. While I treat all spines, I do work a lot with women and pregnant women. Female empowerment is a part of my soul that is a fire! I am grateful to all of the amazing women in Ann Arbor who support each other!

In Case You Didn’t Know:

I have hosted and produced over 70 media segments, including interviewing NBA star Isaiah Thomas.

During the 2016 Olympics, I joined Matt Alba on PHL17 Morning News to discuss foods that help reduce muscle pain.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
The best way to get to know my style of healing is to come into The Joint for a complimentary evaluation! I think of this as a meeting – we discuss your current health status, define goals, and that same day, I get to work on your spine so you can see firsthand how it works and how you feel afterwards!

The next best way is through corporate wellness. I have over 40 health talks from Foods that Fight Inflammation to Ergonomics at Work; I work with many companies across North America.

Let’s connect! I love to support other women on social media through conversations and sharing of information. Find me on IG @drrubinatahir @positivityandtruth
