Community Highlights: Meet Ronald Akbar of D-LINE COURIER SERVICE

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronald Akbar

Hi Ronald, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
D-Line Courier Service: A Journey from Dream to Reality:

For many, the open road symbolizes freedom. For me, that freedom became real two years ago, as I transitioned from my role in healthcare to embrace the life I’d long envisioned. I’d always been captivated by the idea of running my own business and charting my own path, so I applied to work as an independent contractor with a broker house in Vandalia, OH. This partnership became the first mile in a journey that would ultimately lead to the launch of D-Line Courier Service.
As a young child, I remember a family friend who owned a semi-truck. He’d let me climb into the cab and pull on the horn—a thrilling experience that ignited my love for vehicles and the road. Though I chose not to drive semis, I couldn’t shake the desire to build something of my own in the transportation world. I started with a single cargo van, delivering goods for the broker while learning the ins and outs of the industry. The plan was simple: establish myself, build a fleet, and eventually launch my own business.
In November 2022, that dream became D-Line Courier Service. While I continue to partner with the broker company, D-Line is my own, and every mile feels like a step closer to the vision I had as a young child.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Believe it or not, the journey was seamless. I credit the smooth transition to a commitment to learning as much about the transportation business as possible. I have become a member of several business development groups, I have acquired a business mentor, and I have completed numerous online self-help seminars. I have also undergone a 3-month long business development program focused on providing me with the tools to not only start my business correctly but sustain the business over time.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Currently, the transportation industry is growing at a rate of 7% yearly. There are plenty of large, small and intermediate companies that do business in different facets of the industry. I plan to solidify my company’s niche in this space, continue to grow my fleet, and then transition to offering passenger transportation as well. I would love to help others achieve the goal of ownership and allow them to realize the freedom of the open road.
