Community Highlights: Meet Nicole Boyd of Party Made Simple

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Boyd.

Nicole, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
It all started with the pandemic and a yard sign! I felt terrible that the class of 2020 would not be able to celebrate their last year with a proper graduation. I had the idea to design personalized yard signs to help celebrate this huge accomplishment. I would add their pictures, school colors, and other designs to the yard sign and the idea really took off! So, I added other signage like banners and backdrops; along with custom party favors they could add to their open house. In 2021, In order to scale my business, I decided to focus on signage and party supplies.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I started this business as a side hustle during the pandemic; I never thought it would grow into a full fledged business. The biggest challenge is work/life balance. As a wife, mother, and full-time worker (day job), time management is not the easiest. I’m also learning the importance of putting process and systems into place to help with this. I try to automate as much as possible, contract out if necessary, and ensure a seamless checkout process.

As you know, we’re big fans of Party Made Simple. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Party Made Simple wants to make celebrating the smallest moments in a huge way-simple! We provide convenient, trendy, pre-designed and custom signage for special events and small businesses. We also offer cute, die-cut, and creative party supplies for Pin-eriffic celebrations!

I am most proud of the journey a simple yard sign design has taken us and where it’s going! My biggest take away from each sign I’ve designed is that love is present and memories were made and it makes it totally worth it for me.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Risk-taking is something you can fear and never do or arise to the occasion and risk take like no other. Because once you do it, it becomes second nature and wonder why it took so long to try it. Whenever I get that butterfly feeling in my stomach, its on! Yes, I’m nervous but, I know I’m about to grow from that experience. Life is all about experiences, good, bad, or indifferent! Although I welcome both, there are no losses only lessons but you don’t get there without taking risk.
