Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Blumenthal
Hi Mike, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My name is Mike Blumenthal and I am the founder of SaaSLeadFlow.io. I have been building SaaS companies since 2016 and currently help founders implement lead generation, sales and marketing systems that scale.
Entrepreneurship is in my family line and I’ve always wanted to build my own business. My father and great-grandfather were entrepreneurs who built companies from scratch with their knowledge and resources nearby them in Detroit, Michigan.
I began in SaaS 8 years ago when the CEO I worked for threw me in the deep end, asking me to build a sales-led growth system for his SaaS from scratch. I used my time to cold call, cold email, experiment with different strategies. This is when I caught my entrepreneurship bug. I became obsessed with testing growth marketing techniques in that role by utilizing digital marketing channels, and learning how to build a tool that has recurring revenue use cases.
When we built Dentalinsider.com and several other companies from launch to thousands of users, I realized growth marketing and lead generation was a skill I could market to other companies.
For example: we took Dentalinsider.com from 0-> 6000 users in about 9 months using SEO and cold email. The scalable way we were able to build this tool out means they still get 70,000+ new website visitors every month!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In terms of challenges, I’ve come to realize it is very hard to build trust in services. Many people “claim” they can achieve results, but your social proof and results are paramount. It takes time and consistency.
The actual build-out of a service-based business is very time-consuming and so this was another challenge I have faced. It was after experimenting with coaching, consulting, and joining as a partner in tech companies that I decided to go with the productized service model.
We plug into startups and set up scalable lead generation tech stacks and staff them with qualified business development reps to help them generate new business.
It works for my clients and my business because our lead generation engine is the most repeatable way of helping founders over and over. So in the end, there was a reward for experimenting. I’ve found simply trying things to be one of the best ways to learn what works.
Take action and figure it out along the way!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about SaaS Lead Flow?
With regards to me and Saasleadflow.io, I got started and launched my business in 2019 with a bootstrapped philosophy. I have always self-funded businesses.
I’ve spent much of the last 7 years traveling the US and Europe as a digital nomad. I love to collect experiences rather than things and helping others is my passion.
Saasleadflow.io is a service-based business that reshapes the way B2B SaaS businesses approach lead generation. We provide a done-for-you service that includes the build-out of an outbound engine to support B2B SaaS growth for years to come.
My service helps busy founders go from DIY sales to DFY scaling the number of prospects and appointments taken by the team each week.
I’ve found the most important resource that you need to focus on is your skillset. The best ROI you’ll get is from investing in yourself.
I used my outbound strategy for clients, an example being IdealTraits, where I had three different email sequences that I sent to a lead list and after 8 weeks, the campaign produced more than $45,000 in ARR averaging 30+ meetings per month for the sales team. It was great to see how effective the strategy was.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Absolutely – although it was a difficult time for many people across the world, I have found light in the opportunities that came from the pandemic.
1) You can work from anywhere AND be more productive.
Before COVID, remote work was a fallacy for many companies. Now I have a global workforce that gets the job done well every day.
2) Build your lifestyle according to your preferred geography, not an office
Many people are tied down to a home or within a certain mile radius of an office. I do not subscribe to that and spent the last 7 years traveling the world while working.
3) Only focus on what you can control and don’t worry about the rest
I am a big Stoic philosopher and I believe in controlling what you can control. At the end of the day, you don’t really control much of what happens after you wake up, so practice gratitude and focus on your outputs. The rest will take care of itself.
