Hello Mid-Michigan Moms, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
It all started with a need and a want to connect with local moms. Motherhood can be lonely and isolating for so many of us, regardless of how each of our life as “mom” looks. Working moms, stay-at-home moms, and work-from-home moms all needs support, encouragement, information, and ready access to local resources that make our lives as moms and parents easier, better, more informed, and enriched. ABOUT US Mid-Michigan Moms is a locally-focused parenting resource for moms and families. Passionate about parenting and our community, Mid-Michigan Moms strives to connect area moms to relevant resources, local businesses, can’t-miss happenings, and most of all — each other!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have been very fortunate from the start. Although our team has evolved and changed, we have continued to grow and add amazing individuals to our writing and executive teams. We have launched a few writers who are now enjoying amazing careers outside of our resources, and we couldn’t be happier for them. With the goal of sharing, supporting, and connecting with one another, we are so pleased to support any and all moms who share that core ideal.
We’ve been impressed with Mid-Michigan Moms, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a hyper-local parenting resource. We specialize in connecting moms with one another, and with the best local resources and business available.
We are known for our inclusive approach to motherhood. No story is off-limits. We want to hear from all moms, and support every mom in this journey of motherhood that connects us all.
Our annual Baby Sprinkle, a free online event for new moms, expectant moms, women thinking about having or adopting children, or those who are having trouble conceiving is our most coveted event. We host it each year in partnership with Hurley Hospital and share anything and everything related to planning to welcome a baby into their lives – it’s basically the best expert advice completely free in a fun online baby shower for area parents.
We publish local guides regularly that are highly anticipated as well. We focus on everything from Kids Eat Free to Summer Camps and constantly update our information to reflect the best of what our area has to offer moms and families when parents most need it.
Overall, our resource aims to further connect moms and grow with our readership. We experienced this acutely during the start of the Pandemic. Moms were seeking a place to connect when everything shut down. We offered a soft and inclusive spot to land, and we took our role and our job very seriously. We continue to do so, and aim to continually provide top-tier services and resources to our clients and our readership.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Absolutely! The COVID-19 Crisis further connected us as a local resource. Our platform offered the connection piece that moms were missing and seeking. We are proud to say that we offered a safe, soft, and inclusive spot for moms to land. We took that role very seriously and met as an executive team regularly to ensure that we were offering the best possible resources and support options. We began an online homeschooling video series. We further cultivated our online Community and Conversation forum, and we launched our virtual book club. Overall, our core values were reaffirmed – moms need connection and community. A support system, and a safe no-judgment community to belong and a place where everyone is welcome. We are now even more committed to continue to offer exactly that to our communities.
