Today we’d like to introduce you to Linsey Battle.
Hi Linsey, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I opened Linsey’s Cheer and Dance 17 years ago, a long-held dream from when I launched my own cheer team after college graduation. I’ve been studying dance since I was 2 and cheer since age 12. Owning a studio was always something I wanted to do to give athletes an opportunity to learn, grow and display their skills in recitals and shows.
We are a family-owned studio with a tight-knit staff and dancers and athletes who have grown up together. And whether a child is in cheer or dance, the entire family feels part of the group.
I am grateful for the studio’s amazing coaches and instructors, many who are previous students. They inspire, excite, encourage, and their diverse backgrounds and experiences provide a wealth of life lessons to the kids.
I love when younger kids take pride in what they accomplish. They all have their own goals, and there is a special joy when they hit milestones. One of the my treasured perks is watching kids from the very beginning, knowing my studio will be part of their cheer and dance journey.
I am married to my high school sweetheart, Nick, with whom I shares boys Hudson, age 9, and Grayson, age 6. Our shitzu Ella is the studio’s security detail. We enjoy traveling together, especially to Disney World. I credit the help of my parents for the studio’s success and notes my mom has helped build, clean, paint, and anything else that needs attention, and my extended family travels to competitions to cheer everyone on.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There are always bumps in the road when owning a small business. From interviewing, hiring experienced and dedicated staff members, choreographing, teaching, scheduling, organizing, and so much more. Having many roles every day of the week with two different programs, Cheer & Dance, can be challenging, but with the help from my amazing staff, our studio director, Amanda, who has been with me for 15 years, and our front desk manager, Bridget who facilitates our marketing and front desk operations we’ve continue to grow each year. Every challenge we’ve had, we face together as a family. From the unexpected pandemic to enrollment, we come together with resolutions.
