My Story: The Evolution of Poise Beauty
Beauty has always been a part of my story. I grew up in the beauty industry, surrounded by women who taught me not only the business of beauty, but also the confidence, connection, and transformation that can happen through it. That foundation eventually led me to become a licensed beauty professional, and for more than 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of helping women look and feel beautiful through my beauty and aesthetic services.
But as I evolved, my definition of beauty evolved too.
Around 2015, I began my own personal healing and wellness journey. I started becoming more intentional about how I cared for myself—not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. I became passionate about well-being, mindfulness, self-care, and what it truly means to create a life that feels as good as it looks.
That journey inspired me to write my book, Living a Poised Life, in 2021. For me, being “poised” became about so much more than how a woman carries herself. It became a lifestyle—learning how to pause, realign, heal, choose yourself, and create a life that reflects who you are becoming.
That philosophy is what ultimately shaped Poise Beauty into the lifestyle and beauty brand it is today.
Poise Beauty brings together the different parts of my journey: beauty services, beauty products, and wellness experiences. My years as a beauty professional allow me to continue serving women through hands-on beauty services. Our Poise Beauty cosmetics allow women to express themselves and feel confident through beauty. And my passion for wellness led me to create the Be Poised, Be Well 1-Day Urban Retreat, which is now in its fourth year.
Be Poised, Be Well was created because I wanted women to have a space to simply pause. We spend so much of our lives doing, giving, working, building businesses, raising families, and taking care of everyone else. I wanted to create an intimate experience where women could come together and intentionally pour back into themselves through movement, mindfulness, wellness practices, meaningful conversations, beauty, and community.
Today, I consider myself a Beautypreneur, author, and well-being enthusiast, but ultimately, everything I do comes back to helping women feel good from the inside out. Poise Beauty is the culmination of my journey—bringing together beauty services, beauty products, wellness, and intentional living under one lifestyle brand.
After more than two decades in the beauty industry, I’ve learned that beauty can absolutely be lipstick, brows, lashes, and all of the things that make us feel fabulous—but beauty is also peace. It’s alignment. It’s confidence. It’s knowing when to pause. It’s giving yourself permission to evolve.
That is the direction I see Poise Beauty continuing to grow in: creating products, services, experiences, and conversations that encourage women to not only look beautiful, but to live beautifully and live a poised life.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has definitely not always been smooth. Entrepreneurship has come with a lot of highs, lows, pivots, and moments where I’ve had to figure things out as I went. I’ve experienced financial challenges, changes within the beauty industry, balancing being a mother and business owner, and the pressure that comes with building something while still navigating your own personal growth.
One of my biggest lessons has been learning that everything doesn’t have to happen at once. My healing journey taught me how important it is to pause, realign, and give myself grace. There were seasons when I had to slow down, restructure, or completely rethink what success looked like for me.
But I believe those challenges are also what helped Poise Beauty evolve. I’m no longer building just for the sake of being busy or successful—I’m building something that genuinely reflects who I am and how I want to live.
The road hasn’t always been easy, but it has been beautiful. Every version of my journey has taught me something, and I’m still evolving, still learning, and most importantly, still building.

Poise Beauty is a beauty and lifestyle brand centered around helping women look good, feel good, and live well. What makes the brand unique is that it brings together all the different parts of who I am as a Beautypreneur—beauty products, beauty services, wellness experiences, and now, personal coaching.
Through Poise Beauty, I offer our signature cosmetics, including our 5-star liquid matte lipsticks, created to help women feel confident, beautiful, and poised. My beauty service business, TreLa Brows, allows me to continue doing what I’ve loved for more than 20 years—serving women through brow artistry, waxing, threading, lash lifts, and other beauty services.
Wellness is another major part of the brand. I created the Be Poised, Be Well 1-Day Urban Retreat, now in its fourth year, as an intimate space for women to pause, pour back into themselves, and experience wellness through movement, mindfulness, healing practices, meaningful conversations, and community.
I’m also expanding the wellness and personal-development side of Poise Beauty through my Inner Beauty Bestie Coaching, offering one-on-one sessions for women who desire support, guidance, and accountability as they work toward elevating their lives. These sessions are designed to create a supportive space for women to gain clarity, build self-trust, reconnect with themselves, and take intentional steps toward the life they desire.
I’m also the author of Living a Poised Life, which speaks to the heart of everything I’m building. For me, Poise is more than beauty—it’s how we live. My goal is to continue growing Poise Beauty into a lifestyle brand where beauty, wellness, personal growth, and intentional living meet, while creating products, services, coaching, and experiences that encourage women to feel beautiful from the inside out.
Beauty is the standard. Alignment is the lifestyle.

I would love for readers to know that this season of my life and business is really about evolution. After more than 20 years in the beauty industry, I’m still passionate about helping women look beautiful, but I’m equally passionate about helping women feel well, live intentionally, and give themselves permission to pause.
That’s really what living a poised life means to me. You can be ambitious, build the business, take care of your family, wear the lipstick, and do all the things—but you also deserve peace, alignment, joy, and a life that feels good to you.
