Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle Rahe.
Hi Kyle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I didn’t start my machine shop because it was easy or glamorous. I started it because I was tired of knowing I could do more—and not doing it. I grew up with my dad being a machinist and having a bunch of memories of him walking me through the machine shop he’s worked at for the past 40 years. Once I was old enough, I started working there as well and did for 18+ years.
The first step on starting my business was going to learning seminars put on from local SBA, and business development centers.
Second step was trying to figure out how to start my company while working a full-time job and building my dream. When the time came, I along with the help from my wife, parents, and 4 kids built a 2000 sq foot building on our property that now houses Lake Ann Manufacturing.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Time management has been a juggle with 4 kids, full time job, and new business starting on the side.
Finding customers
Trying wear all the hats of a new business owner.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Lake Ann Manufacturing provides precision machined components for local machine shops, and various industries like Defense, Medical, Hydraulic Cylinders, and more.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
LOTS of different lessons from understanding cash flow and ALL the ins and outs of a business.
