Hi Kisstina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story really began when life threw me a curveball. During the pandemic, I lost my job, and like so many others, I was left wondering what was next. But instead of letting fear take over, I decided to take a leap of faith and bet on myself. That leap became Kissy Face Med Spa.

It started with just me, one room, and one laser. No investors, no safety net, just determination, faith, and a vision to create something honest and real. I wanted to build the kind of place I wished existed when I was working for others: a space rooted in truth, integrity, education, and compassion, where people were treated with genuine care and kindness.

In just four years, that small dream has grown beyond anything I could’ve imagined. We’ve outgrown our walls and had to move to larger spaces three times; each move a reminder of how far we’ve come. Every challenge, every late night, every ounce of struggle has shaped Kissy Face into what it is today, a place where authenticity, results, and heart all live under one roof.

But the true heartbeat of Kissy Face isn’t me, it’s us. It’s the incredible team of women who pour their passion into this place every day, and the patients who trust us with their skin and their confidence.

Kissy Face was born out of loss but built on love. It’s proof that sometimes when everything falls apart, it’s really just falling into place. And for me, this isn’t just a business, it’s a purpose. Helping people love the skin they’re in is what keeps me showing up, no matter how hard the days get.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. My journey has been anything but smooth, it’s been filled with obstacles, heartbreak, and lessons that shaped me into who I am today.

Long before Kissy Face Med Spa, I knew what it meant to start from the bottom. There was a time in my life when I was homeless with my three kids, living out of our car for three months. Those were some of the hardest days of my life, trying to stay strong for my children while figuring out how to rebuild our lives from scratch. That season taught me resilience, humility, and a kind of strength I didn’t know existed. When you’ve had to fight that hard to survive, you see the world and success in a completely different way.

Starting Kissy Face brought its own set of challenges. I’ve faced betrayal from employees I trusted and invested in, only to see them walk away and try to compete against me. I’ve dealt with other businesses trying to tear me down — reporting me to the state, flagging my social media posts, and spreading rumors. There were times it felt like I was constantly fighting just to protect what I built from the ground up.

But here’s the truth: I’ve been through worse. I’m also a cancer survivor and there have been days when navigating the ups and downs of business ownership has made that journey feel like a walk in the park. Both experiences taught me the same lesson: your purpose can’t be taken from you.

Every hardship has fueled my determination to keep leading with honesty, integrity, and heart. I built Kissy Face to be everything I never had a place rooted in truth, compassion, and genuine care.

So no, it hasn’t been a smooth road. It’s been messy, painful, and full of lessons. But every setback carved out a stronger version of me and I’m proud of the woman and business that came from all of it.

Over the years, Kissy Face has grown far beyond my wildest dreams. We’ve created our own medical-grade skincare line, and even launched Get Whipped, a sister brand of handmade body scrubs and butters that celebrate self-care in its purest form.

What I’m most proud of, though, isn’t just the growth, it’s the community. Kissy Face has become a space where people walk in as clients and leave as family. We laugh, we share stories, and we celebrate every win together.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
No one builds something like this alone and I certainly didn’t. Behind every success story are the people who helped carry you through the hard days, believed in you when you doubted yourself, and showed up even when they didn’t have to.

First and foremost, I have to give credit to my family, my husband, who has stood by me through every late night, every new building, and every storm I’ve had to weather; and my children, who’ve been my reason for everything. They’ve seen me at my lowest and still believed I could rise. Their love and patience have been my anchor.

My team at Kissy Face: Michele, Kim, my estheticians, and everyone who’s helped build this place with their own two hands, they’re more than coworkers. They’re family. They’ve trusted my vision, worked tirelessly to make our patients feel loved and cared for, and have grown alongside me. I couldn’t do this without them.

I’ve also been blessed with mentors and cheerleaders who’ve poured wisdom into me along the way, people like my business coach, colleagues in the med spa community, and local small business owners who’ve encouraged and guided me through some of the hardest seasons. They reminded me that even when it feels like you’re standing alone, you’re not.

And then there are my patients, the heart of it all. Many of them have become more like friends. They’ve trusted me with their skin, their stories, and their confidence. Their loyalty and belief in what Kissy Face stands for have kept me going, even on the hardest days.

I’ve had a lot of obstacles, but I’ve also had an army of love behind me, and that’s what has made all the difference. Kissy Face may be my dream, but it’s our story.
