Today we’d like to introduce you to Keely Iacovoni.
Hi Keely, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
21 years old, in college, amidst a global pandemic, not having a clue as to what was next. The whole world seemed to be settling in on me. It was my senior year and I was uncertain about what my future looked like and what I would be doing post-graduation. With so much anticipation on my mind, I chose to reach out to my family and friends for guidance. After a few months, I finally got in contact with someone who wanted to offer me an internship in the spring of my final year at Hope College. This company, which I knew nothing about, TiiCKER, a fin-tech startup, wanted to take a leap of faith in me. Although I didn’t know much about start-ups, fin-tech, stocks, or technology in general, I was determined to make the most of it.
I worked between and after classes, researching, analyzing, building, creating, and learning more things than I was in any classroom at the time. I was drawn in by the fast-paced work. I became excited to be done with school and to finally be in the real world, working at a BIG-girl job. I was becoming business-oriented and learning things I never thought I would, I loved it.
Fast forward to today, I’m a full-time employee at TiiCKER, working as the Lead Activation Coordinator. Within one year, I have landed pitches with journalists, provided guidance to CEOs and executives of public companies, written newsletters, built web pages, monitored, and optimized partner campaigns, delivered ROI valuations, and even given a raise for exceptional work. The best part is, I learn something new every day and hit goals I never thought I’d achieve.
Working within a start-up atmosphere, I have learned to leverage my tenacity with all teams I work closely with, including the Digital, Marketing, and Sales team. I’m humbled to be a part of such an amazing team and eager to see where the future takes me from here.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I felt helpless and trapped during the start of the pandemic, knowing that I would be stuck at home with my family for weeks, if not months. I’d been self-sufficient for three years while at Hope College, and now I had to go back to the way things were before I moved away for college. I was a full-time student at the time. I was involved on campus and worked there. I had a house with my friends. I was devastated when COVID-19 struck and we were informed we had to evacuate and not return. I couldn’t work for a few months since my classes were moved to the internet, and I didn’t know where to turn for help, no one did.
I was concerned about the future as graduation approached. I needed an internship, but so did many other students, especially now. I didn’t believe my family and friends when they told me not to worry and that something would happen, but I didn’t believe them. But, since the city was shut down, I had plenty of time to figure out how to make this internship a reality. My initial intention was to make contact with business contacts I already knew. I got a lot of responses with, “no”, “not a good time”, “you’re not qualified”, etc. I wasn’t going to let that get me down, I knew something had to be out there for me, and just like that, a few months later, I got the response I had been waiting for, “We’d love to meet you and talk more”. The rest was history.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about TiiCKER?
TiiCKER is dedicated to a simple proposition: Individual Investors should be rewarded for their loyalty. You live, breathe and eat these brands – literally. The TiiCKER Team spends countless hours serving up a multitude of shareholder perks and then helps publicly traded companies claim them. What sets TiiCKER apart is that we are the first of our kind. We understand how impossible it is for public companies to know who their individual investors are, let alone connect with or market to them. We want public companies to reward their shareholders, bottom line. Who doesn’t value free perks from the brands they know and love? Exactly.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories would have to be swimming in the Piano pool while enjoying my favorite snack, a cherry popsicle on our visit to Disney World. I wanted that pool in my own backyard! I had to have been around the age of six years old and that’s when I began to cherish pianos and the way they sounded, especially when my grandma would play songs for me when I was a little girl. I thought to myself, how cool is it that I get to dance on piano keys and jump into a pool. I’ll remember that moment forever.
