Today we’d like to introduce you to KayLyn Havranek.
Hi KayLyn , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Ive always wanted to do hair. I started working in a salon when I was 15 as a receptionist. After 4 years working in Ann Arbor, MI during the beginning of my career my husband and I decided to move out west. We lived and worked out west for a long time and decided to move back after having kids. This was during the early days of covid and I was staying at home with the kids. I missed working and taking clients and so I started taking clients out of the house. I soon was outgrowing taking clients out of the house and the dream I once had of starting a salon started to take shape.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For the most part it has been really smooth. The have been set backs and whoops made along the way. I feel like even the rough patches had to happen for me to grow and understand how to run a business. I still am learning new things every single day.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
We are a boutique salon located in Ferndale, MI. We focus on the hairs natural beauty while being mindful of the products we use. We are a green circle salon and try to recycle as much of our waste as possible.
We really enjoy throwing gatherings at the salon to get our community together. Whether is a little yoga/meditation pop up or a giant makers market.
Im most proud of the team and community that we have built at the salon. I really do not take for granted the fact that it is every single person that walks through the door that is keeping that place there. It has become such a special place to so many people and more than just a hair salon. On the nights I close up alone, I turn off the lights and just look around and take it all in. So grateful.
I want the readers to know that every service we do at the salon is customize for you. We really have put every detail into what we use and we only use the best products on you. We want it to feel like an experience when you come into the salon.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
The hair industry is always changing and I think it will continue to. I have been doing hair for almost 20 years now. I do think whatever people feel most comfortable with personally will always be in style.
