Community Highlights: Meet Kayla Mckenzie of K.E.M. Kravings

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kayla Mckenzie

Kayla, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Well I Started K.E.M. Kravings In 2015 Thanks To My Dad. I Had Just Recently Moved Back Home And I Would Make Loaded Twice Baked Potatoes All The Time. One Day My Dad Suggested I Should Sell Them. So I Made A Menu For October 5, 2015, I Got 20 Orders And Everyone Loved Them. I Continued To Get Request For Me And Also Accepted The Criticism That Was Given To Me To Make Them Better. So I Made Some Changes, Stayed Consistent, Added More Items To The Menu And Started Selling Weekly Meals. Things Have Been Great Ever Since. So Great That I Expanded Into Catering In June 2020.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It Hasn’t Been A Smooth Road. I’ve Had A Few Bumps. Of Course Moments When Appliances Break Down Or During Covid When Things Were Had To Find, But Not Too Many. 2019 Was My Most Rough Year. Business Was Extremely Slow And I Didn’t Have Transportation. With No Transportation, No Delivery. So I Pretty Much Lost The Love For Cooking And Wanted To Give Up And Stop All Together. But Everything Changed In 2020, Which Made All My Struggles In 2019 Worth It.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about K.E.M. Kravings ?

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Actually Covid Was Very Smooth. I Didn’t Have Any Issues Really, Thankfully.
Only Thing I Would Say Is That It Did Teach Me To Be Extremely Transparent When It Comes To Catering And Have Everyone Sign A Contract. It Will Make Everything Smooth And Both Parties Will Have An Understanding.
