Community Highlights: Meet Katelyn Krulek of FRUITION

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katelyn Krulek.

Katelyn Krulek

Hi Katelyn, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been enamored with the hidden language of the world. The way rainfall makes you feel. The smell of springtime after a long winter. The way sunsets make us swoon. The way a smile is contagious. The way words strike a chord deep within us. This relationship with the unseen has inspired everything I do.

Since a young age, I wanted to be an artist, weaving together colors, words, and feelings for others to consume. Instead, I went to business school at Western Michigan University and pursued my creative interests through marketing.

Right out of college, I worked for a travel company where I did social media marketing, wrote articles, and designed graphics. This sparked my love for content marketing and exposed me to the endless possibilities digital content generates. You can truly start any business based on your interests and passions with the right tools and know-how.

Today, I work as a Content Manager for a different travel company and own my own consulting and coaching business called FRUITION, where I help small businesses and solopreneurs uncover strategic solutions, learn how to be creative, and navigate the highs and lows of owning a business. I’ve never been one to fit into a box, but I like to think of myself as equal parts business expert, creative, and mindset coach.

I believe travel, art, and community are essential tools for getting inspired and learning new things, especially if you’re a creative or entrepreneur.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all, but I think the intricacy of my journey has made me into the human I am today — someone who sees both herself and the world in a totally unorthodox way.

As a person who has never fit into any prescribed way of being, it was a struggle to try and figure out what I wanted to do with my life in the context of this crazy world. I’ve always hated the idea of being labeled with a job title because I think the magic of life and “work” is when we can create something entirely new and unheard of.

On top of that, I was laid off twice before the age of 29 and had my fair share of “wtf am I doing with my life” moments. But honestly, I’ve grown so much from all of those heartaches.

I got into freelance solely because I needed work post-layoff (which forced me to learn how to run my own business). I learned to articulate my thoughts and emotions during bad relationships, which has afforded me more self-awareness than I know what to do with. I realized my undying love for art after depriving myself of it for so long.

The hardships are truly what shape us and provide us with the wisdom and perspective that anchor our life’s work and experience.

As you know, we’re big fans of FRUITION. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
FRUITION is inspired by a deep belief that our dreams are coming to fruition. They are already in motion. They want to find us just as much as we want to find them. All we have to do is reach out and catch them. With the right clarity, focus, and insight, I truly believe anyone can make their visions manifest.

I started FRUITION as a way to share my gifts. Whether it be technical business acumen, marketing expertise, creative insight, or mindset practices, I have cultivated a unique holistic perspective of entrepreneurship that I use to support others on their journey.

In a professional setting, I have worked with over 80 clients, including those as big as Adidas and Coca-Cola, and smaller clients like DIO Cocktails, Ama La Vida, and Sat Nam Yoga Chicago. I have also worked in a diversity of corporate environments — including for coveted agencies like Ogilvy and BBDO, in-house for Adidas, and as a freelancer — affording me the skills and tools to navigate any obstacle. I have also pursued my Whole Person Coaching Certification from Coach Training World where I learned interpersonal neurobiology, mindfulness techniques, somatics, and narrative and archetypal psychology.

This unique blend of technical and relational experience allows me to work with clients in a deeper, more meaningful way. Our work is not only our job; it’s our creation. What we create is personal because it’s an intimate part of us that we share with the world, like an artist who pours their heart out in a painting.

Bringing your business to fruition is an intimidating yet exhilarating journey, but it’s worth every moment, and I love helping clients see that.
