Community Highlights: Meet Julie Taylor of Young Living essential oils

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Taylor.

Hi Julie , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
We bought an old building in Vicksburg Michigan a few years ago. After awhile, I asked my husband if he could remove the two offices in the front space of the building to open it up as well as turn a smaller back room into a treatment room for my Raindrop sessions with essential oils. My intention was to use the space for my essential oil classes and other wellness events. People saw the space and within a couple of weeks, someone asked to use it for a birthday party. That was the start of seeing another opportunity, and we started advertising it as an event space as well. Within the first year, events quickly picked up and we are now booked every weekend for baby showers, bridal showers, and birthday parties as well as a few miscellaneous events here and there. We have a fitness instructor that uses the building for 8-week class sessions, and we still hold wellness events and essential oil classes there as well as taking Raindrop clients in the treatment room. We’re into our second year now and are being contacted often for use. People that rent the space for parties seem to love it and say it’s comfortable and pretty. There is a partial brick wall along one side that is the focal point of the main room, and people love it.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Creating the space was a lot of work. Taking walls down, picking the perfect colors, it took months and my husband worked tirelessly. Once we were up and running, it was a fairly smooth road. We had to figure a few things out and tweak things here and there, but it has been fine. People are very respectful of the space and leave it very clean after parties, which we always appreciate.

We’ve been impressed with Young Living essential oils, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have a Young Living essential oil business. I teach classes on health and wellness using Young Living oils and products. I specialize in Raindrop Technique and that’s a very unique modality. I’ve been doing it for four years and I love it. It has many health benefits, and it is great for those that already love essential oils, but I’ve also been able to introduce many people to essential oils by having them come for their first Raindrop session. I love helping others either in person or online to find things in my business that can help them feel their best.

What matters most to you?
What matters to me most with Building 122 is that people feel comfortable and happy when they are there. I love hospitality, so even though I’m not there for most of the parties and events, I feel good knowing I’m providing a space people can come together and celebrate.
