Community Highlights: Meet Jessica Bouvy of Adorn Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Bouvy.

Hi Jessica, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My husband always suggested that I open a retail shop since we live in the perfect town for it, but having small kids (and a job where he traveled often) seemed overwhelming until a friend was moving out of a tiny retail space in 2015. The rent was affordable in that little spot and it was worth a shot. I could almost reach across the whole store at once (lol) but it was a space to offer trendy and classic styles at great prices. I was struggled to finding a name until searching “clothing” in a digital Bible and the word adornment popped up. It felt like the perfect fit.

We moved into our current location just down the street (which took patience, there’s not many opportunities in Frankenmuth) in 2018. It was so close my husband and I rolled the racks down the sidewalk! It’s changed over the years and has been an amazing spot to grow. Our community is truly one of a kind, and I’m so honored to be a part of it.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’m thankful for Adorn every day, but it’s definitely been more of a hustle than I ever could’ve imagined. Running a business is comparable to being a mom, there’s no instruction book and there’s always a never-ending list of things to do at the shop and behind the scenes. But I’ve been so blessed with great employees to help along the way, and the support of customers–many who have become friends!

We’ve been impressed with Adorn Boutique, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Being at work is enjoyable for me. I hand select everything we carry and aim to carry a wide range of clothing options from comfy to cocktail with the goal to be gorgeous and affordable. The girls and I love chatting with customers, helping them to find pieces they feel and look great in. We offer women’s sizes S-3X, including denim that is comfortable and flattering, accessories and jewelry, as well as baby and kid’s items. We also carry small batch companies, some which are locally made, making our shop so unique.

The biggest compliment when visitors say our shop is friendly + cute, our prices are great, and that they love the items they’ve purchased from us–especially when it’s still a favorite years later.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
To give myself grace. There will always be something I could’ve done differently but focusing on objectives that matter the most (including my family) lead to the biggest amount success and happiness in life.
