Community Highlights: Meet Jarvis Mitchell of 1Nation AAU

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jarvis Mitchell.

Hi Jarvis, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Played Division 1 basketball At Fairleigh Dickinson University. Played 5 years Professional Basketball Overseas in Riga Latvia 2002-2007. Got Started Around 2006 Coaching Girls basketball, and I’ve just evolved with the times. Been an Assistant at Liggett and Cass Tech Highschool and I am currently the Head Coach at Wayne Memorial high school and I’ve been here since 2014.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Keep kids loyal to the process and not giving in to social media misrepresentations.

We’ve been impressed with 1Nation AAU, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am the Director Of 1nation girls’ basketball. An Adidas Sponsored girls’ team that travels the country exposing kids to basketball scholarship opportunities. I believe our work ethic and drive is what sets us apart. We work really hard to get under-exposed kids’ scholarships, and we’ve been very successful over the last 6 years.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
We use Twitter a lot. 1nationgirlselitegbb
