Community Highlights: Meet Jalita King of Solar Flair Eyewear

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalita King. 

Hi Jalita, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Jalita King. I am the owner of Solar Flair Eyewear! Growing up in Detroit, designer was what everybody wanted to have. It could be clothes, shoes, belts, jackets. It didn’t matter what it was. Everybody who was anybody was laced in something designer. I’ve never really been a name-brand girl but, as you flourish into adulthood, alongside your career and success, who doesn’t appreciate quality and affordability? And Solar Flair Eyewear is just that! Solar Flair Eyewear is an emporium for luxury sunglasses highlighting black-owned brands right here in the city of Detroit! Solar Flair Eyewear aims to bridge the gap between luxury and the culture because we deserve luxury too!  It’s where Quality and Affordability meets LUX and Sumptuality! We want our consumers to stand out and be that spark that one can’t quite put their finger on but remains so desperately eager to know more about! Currently, Solar Flair Eyewear is available in two locations in Metro Detroit and online! We are eager about this fall season because fall SCREAMS fashion and we will be dropping our Fall Look-Book mid-October 2022 as the holiday season approaches, we are preparing our Holiday Gift Guide as well! Stay tuned for all the fabulous fashion-forward things we have in store for the remainder of 2022! 

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Entrepreneurship is not for the weak! One of the challenges I face personally is having too much on my plate at times and taking on too many tasks at once. Life can be overwhelming at times, as we all know! Some days are easier than others and I often push myself to keep going. Some of the challenges we face as a business is finding new ways to be innovative, creative, and standout alongside our competitors. We are a small business but, we stand tall nonetheless. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Solar Flair Eyewear?
Solar Flair Eyewear does an annual summer ‘Friday Flair Raffle’ where you can enter for a chance to win a luxury pair of frames! Entry is simple and one lucky winner is chosen at random. This year’s winner took home a gorgeous pair of elegant white Gucci sunglasses with Swarovski crystals valued at $400!
