Community Highlights: Meet Jaila Rykse of Jaila Rixie Photos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jaila Rykse.  

Hi Jaila, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Bright colored photo album scrapbooks, Kodak disposable cameras always on hand, and countless humorous high school Facebook photo albums labeled; 2011 Prom, Summer Love, Laugh a Little, and Daydreamer… Needless to say, I’ve always had a passion for pictures. 

It was 2016 when my husband and I, just shy of 6 months of marriage, were dreaming about our future together. We desired freedom to take vacations whenever we wanted; we wanted stability to not have to rely on a 9 to 5 job; we wanted to be able to afford activities that our future children wanted to partake in someday; the list went on. We ultimately endeavored to do something with the passions we felt we already had. I loved people, I admired photography, I had a passion to know people’s stories, no matter the season of life, and I wanted to capture that for them. Us, being only 22 at the time, took all of our savings and invested into my first Sony camera. It was in that moment that Jaila Rixie Photos was born. 

It’s been a whole lot of hustle, endless abundance of the Lord’s grace, much joy, sweat, and tears; I am thankful to be where I am in this journey of entrepreneurship. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I don’t believe that creating and maintaining a brand/business is ever smooth. I’ve found that there are beauty in the bumps. I have had to constantly grow, stay educated, and learn to jump off the deep end in many cases. There have been moments of burnout, but the greatest lesson I’ve adopted into my business is balance and saying no. My faith, family, and personal health come first! When you can give yourself 100% then your business will be much better of as well as the clients you serve. 

As you know, we’re big fans of Jaila Rixie Photos. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
After 7+ years of being in the photography industry, specifically weddings, I pride myself on delivering timeless imagery that documents the raw emotions and fine details from your wedding day. I seek beauty in the bride graciously getting into her elegant dress as much so as the intimate moments when the couple is greeting their guests with signature cocktails in hand. I firmly believe that your wedding day is the catapult to a story that’ll stand the test of time, the beginning a new legacy unfolding. 

I also offer portraits sessions that include: High School Seniors and Families.
