Community Highlights: Meet Heidi Winters of Purple Turtle LLC, A Unique Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heidi Winters.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
About 10 years ago I started feeling a shift inside of me, several years later it became clear I wasn’t doing what I should be career wise..In 2021 I took my little ebay business to real life by starting a business at an antique store. That Fiesta Lady was born, I sold mostly fiestaware dishes and home decor. I absolutely loved it and in 2023 started working at that store. I started feeling like “I could do this” find a brick and mortar and vendors. Easy right !? So I started looking, in January of 2024 I started a non-profit organization called The Princess Project we help girls be able to afford to go to prom, by providing them with dresses, shoes make up and gift card to salons. In April of 2024 I found “the place” I meet the owner i presented my business proposal, fast forward six weeks and Purple Turtle was born. We have had some growing pains but all and all its been an amazing journey. On July 8th I’m proud to say we will be having our first anniversary!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It actually has been pretty smooth.
There have been a few times when vendors have said they are leaving, but literally the second I start to worry an individual contacts me and asks to be a vendor !

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I’m the proud owner of Purple Turtle
Its a Unique Boutique in Dutton Mi
We have everything from Fiestaware dishes, Handmade one of a kind cutting boards, Candles, Upcycled Furniture, Boutique Clothing and much more !

We are set apart from anything in the Dutton/Caledonia area, because we are currently the only one in our city !

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
First I have to Thank God, for always being by my side and giving me the strength to believe in myself

Then my husband Mark, who I couldn’t have done this without his support and hard work. He took my vision and put it into reality, but completely renovating the space. My Kids, Brie, Kyle, Cody, and Olivia (AKA the real boss)
My amazing Mom who came out of retirement to work for free at the store.
My brother and his family who have stepped in and worked (for Free !) When I’ve had emergency and now my brother works every Tuesday for me.
All of my amazing Church Ladies who supported me and prayed over, cheered me on every step of the way.

And of course all of my vendors, without them this store wouldn’t be what it is today. I thank God daily that people who never met me before took a chance on me and my new business, I’m truly grateful

My landlords Dan and Pam who let me lived out my dream in their store..
