Today we’d like to introduce you to Feras Mansour.
Hi Feras, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I grew up helping my family in our convenience store. It was located next door to a very popular sandwich shop named Ricky’s Sub Shop. I frequented this establishment throughout my childhood and adult years as I helped grow my family business. I even made my own sandwiches. Well, in 2018, I had the opportunity to purchase Ricky’s Sub Shop, and I seized the opportunity. I grew the business very quickly and went through 2 major expansions; one of them was taking over the convenience store to keep up with demand. Also, adding a food truck and a new dessert concept called Frozen Elephants.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Well, a wise man once said it isn’t easy being an entrepreneur. But if you can figure it out and thrive and have work-life balance. Then it can be the most fulfilling and fruitful Job out there. So, it has been a very bumpy road. Our biggest obstacle was deciding to go from a small hole in the wall to a full-scale restaurant. We started that project in March of 2020. Covid set us back during that time, but it taught me that the life of a restaurant owner isn’t pretty. But we had to keep fighting.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Ricky’s sub shop was established in 1988. Our founder put together a well-rounded menu using the highest quality bread, meat, cheese, and produce he could get his hands on. We use 100 percent ribeye for our cheesesteaks, and we make all of our own sauces in-house for our Subs and wings! We are known for our high-quality bread and gigantic 16-inch subs. In 2020 we expanded our footprint, and we added a unique dessert concept Called Frozen Elephants which specializes in Elephant Ears, Frozen Custard, Milkshakes, and Churros. No one sells Elephant Ears all year long!
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a very curious and outgoing individual. I played a ton of sports and really enjoyed learning about all aspects of life. My main interest was football, and I started playing at a very young age. I love helping people and putting a smile on their face and I currently get to do that by making a phenomenal sandwich!
