Today we’d like to introduce you to Ezekiel Fowle.
Hi Ezekiel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a Grand Rapids, MI, native with a passion for business & creativity.
I’ve been involved in event production and promotion for over 10 years. I went to Northwood University and graduated with my BBA in Entertainment, Sport, & Promotional Management. I’ve been in sales my whole life, currently working for Honeywell Inc. (tech company) as a Sr. Channel Business Manager, where I manage our partners in our channel network.
I’ve always had a creative side to me and have been interested in helping my creative friends with their visions. I lived in LA for a few years and got to experience really cool events that were basically networking events, but they weren’t called that.
When I got an opportunity with Honeywell to take a job and move back to GR, I thought to myself; I wanted to host a networking event that was like what I experienced in LA. Unlike L.A. and other larger creative markets, the smaller markets are missing that culture of connectivity, so when I moved back to GR, I decided to do what I could to help change that culture.
That’s when the idea for Pirate Club was born, and we started with the Cultivate Grand Rapids event – a mission to make networking events effective AND entertaining WHILE raising money for charity.
From there, we have expanded to golf outings, social gatherings, holiday affairs, and more with many more exciting events on the horizon.
I enjoy using my corporate experience and my creative passion for doing my part in creating a culture that helps creatives and like-minded individuals connect in a more meaningful way.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road. Every good adventure has the right amount of twist and turns. The biggest hurdle so far was lockdown during the pandemic. But every hurdle can be overcome with the right amount of imagination and ingenuity.
As you know, we’re big fans of Pirate Club. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
We have been able to create a brand that people trust and that is why our events are growing and we have so many repeat customers.
I am honored that people trust me with their time & money as we cultivate some of their best experiences.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My mom is a kickass business professional of 30+ years, and she has taught me the importance of building relationships and effective communication. Beyond her there are many other people that I’m very grateful for in my community and in my life that have helped me navigate the ins & outs of the business landscape.
