Community Highlights: Meet Erinn Pope of Cos Press Network

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erinn Pope.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Cos Press Network was born from my personal journey in the beauty industry and my passion for helping others discover purpose through their careers. After becoming a licensed cosmetologist and instructor, I recognized that many aspiring beauty professionals needed more than technical training. They needed mentorship, business education, leadership development, and access to opportunities. In 2022, I founded Cos Press Network to educate, equip, and elevate beauty professionals through career development programs, workshops, networking events, youth initiatives, and industry partnerships. Since then, we have collaborated with organizations across Detroit to create pathways for students, licensed professionals, and entrepreneurs to grow personally and professionally. Today, Cos Press Network continues to bridge the gap between education and opportunity by empowering individuals with the skills, confidence, and community they need to build sustainable careers while making a positive impact within the beauty industry and the communities they serve.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has been rewarding, though it has certainly come with challenges. Like many entrepreneurs, I have experienced seasons of limited funding, building credibility as a new organization, and balancing multiple roles while growing the business. There were moments when I questioned how certain programs and events would come together, yet each challenge strengthened my leadership, creativity, and faith. Building meaningful partnerships, earning the trust of the community, and creating sustainable programs required patience and consistency. Every obstacle became an opportunity to learn, adapt, and refine our mission. Looking back, those experiences shaped Cos Press Network into a more resilient organization that is focused on creating lasting impact. They also reinforced the importance of serving with excellence, remaining committed to the vision, and remembering that meaningful change takes time, collaboration, and perseverance.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Cos Press Network is a career and workforce development organization dedicated to educating, equipping, and elevating current and future beauty professionals. We provide professional development workshops, youth programming, career fairs, business education, networking opportunities, and industry events that prepare individuals for long term success in the beauty industry. Our programs focus on both technical growth and the soft skills that are essential for leadership, entrepreneurship, and career advancement.

What sets us apart is our commitment to building community while creating real opportunities. We partner with schools, workforce organizations, employers, and community leaders to connect talent with education, employment, and mentorship. We believe every beauty professional deserves access to resources that extend beyond the classroom.

I am most proud of the impact our brand has made by opening doors for students, supporting licensed professionals, and inspiring the next generation through our Cos Kids program. In addition we offer professional beauty services. At our core, Cos Press Network exists to help people discover their purpose, develop their potential, and build sustainable careers that strengthen both their lives and their communities.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about Detroit is its resilience, creativity, and sense of community. There is a genuine spirit of collaboration here, with people who are passionate about investing in one another and creating opportunities that make a lasting impact. As an entrepreneur, I have found an ecosystem that values innovation, supports small businesses, and welcomes organizations that are committed to serving the community. The city’s rich culture and talent continue to inspire the work we do through Cos Press Network.

One of the greatest challenges is ensuring that opportunities reach every neighborhood and every aspiring professional. There are still barriers to workforce development, transportation, and access to affordable resources for many individuals pursuing careers in the beauty industry. I believe continued collaboration among businesses, educators, and community organizations can help create more equitable pathways so everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
