Dr. Kimberly E. , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey as an International Award-Winning Author, an Executive Producer and an Entrepreneur began with a story I never intended to tell publicly.
“There Is No Sound in My Scream: Drugs, Truth and Faith” is based on my true-life experiences. It is a very honest look at a chapter of my life that included addiction, struggle, difficult choices, and ultimately, faith, transformation, and redemption.
I wrote the book because I realized that sometimes the people who are hurting the most are the people making the least noise. There can be a scream that nobody hears not because the person isn’t crying out, but because they have learned how to hide what they are going through.
Writing that book was my way of giving a voice to that silent scream.
I wasn’t trying to present myself as someone who had it all together. I wanted to tell the truth. I wanted people to see that a person’s worst chapter does not have to become their identity or their destiny. My story became a testimony that demonstrated that you can make mistakes, lose your way, face consequences, and still find your way back to purpose.
The response to the book opened doors I never expected. I became an international award-winning author, and what started as me simply putting my testimony on paper became part of a much larger assignment.
Eventually, I began asking myself, What if people could actually see this story instead of just reading it?
That question led to the creation of “Silent Scream,” the film adaptation of my story, where I stepped into the role of Executive Producer, which is now streaming on Tubi and YouTube.
That experience was incredibly meaningful because I wasn’t simply telling someone else’s story, I was helping bring my own truth to the screen. The book and the movie are both rooted in my real-life experiences, but the message goes far beyond my personal story.
The message is about transformation.
It’s about what happens when you decide that your past is part of your story but it doesn’t get to be the author of your future.
And that message eventually led me to something that is even closer to my heart: Elevate H.E.R. Academy. (Heal, Embrace, Renew)
I began to realize that if I could go back and speak to a younger version of myself, there are so many things I would want her to know about her identity, her worth, her choices, her voice, and her future.
I couldn’t go back and change my younger years, but I could take what I learned and pour it into the next generation.
That’s why I created Elevate H.E.R. Academy—to help young people develop confidence, leadership skills, self-worth, decision-making skills, and a stronger understanding of who they are.
For me, it is bigger than a business. It is purpose. I believe that sometimes our greatest assignment comes from the very places we once thought disqualified us. My story went from a book, to a movie, to a mission. And today, I don’t look at my past and only see the things I went through. I see the lessons. I see the growth. I see the people I can reach. And most importantly, I see young people who may be standing at the beginning of their story and need someone to tell them:
“You don’t have to become a product of your circumstances. You can become the author of your future.”
That is what my journey has taught me. My story wasn’t the end. It was the beginning.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth ride. One of my biggest struggles has been learning to believe in myself while carrying the weight of my past. I had to learn that my history could explain some of the things I experienced, but it did not have the authority to determine my future.
Then came the challenge of telling my story publicly. Writing “There Is No Sound in My Scream: Drugs, Truth and Faith” meant exposing very personal parts of my life and opening myself up to judgment. I had to decide that the possibility of helping someone was more important than my fear of what people might think.
Becoming an author, then an international award-winning author, taught me that writing the book was only the beginning. I had to learn how to promote it, build relationships, and continue believing in the message even when doors didn’t open immediately.
Taking that story to the screen through “Silent Scream,” where I served as Executive Producer, brought another set of challenges. Turning your own life story into a movie requires vision, patience, resources, and perseverance.
And then there was building Elevate H.E.R. Academy. I knew the mission, but I had to learn the business side of turning a passion for empowering young people into an actual organization. There were disappointments, financial challenges, closed doors, and moments when I questioned myself.
But I learned something important: a closed door doesn’t always mean you’re on the wrong path. Sometimes it means you have to find another way to get there.
I’ve had to learn patience, resilience, and how to keep moving when the results weren’t happening as quickly as I wanted.
So no, it hasn’t been a smooth ride. But today, I wouldn’t trade the journey. The struggles taught me how to turn rejection into redirection, obstacles into lessons, and my experiences into purpose.
I stopped asking why the road was so hard and started asking what the road was trying to teach me.

Elevate H.E.R. Academy is an empowerment and leadership organization created to help young people discover who they are, understand their worth, build confidence, and develop the skills they need to make positive decisions about their future.
H.E.R. stands for Heal, Embrace, Renew, and Rise. Through structured programs, leadership development, interactive workbooks, activities, and workshops, we focus on areas such as self-worth, confidence, identity, communication, decision-making, relationships, leadership, and future planning.
What sets Elevate H.E.R. Academy apart is that it was born from my own life experiences and transformation. I understand what it means to struggle with identity, make mistakes, lose your way, and have to find your voice again. I don’t simply teach empowerment, I teach from lived experience.
I am most proud of the fact that Elevate H.E.R. is purpose-driven. My goal isn’t simply to create programs; it’s to create experiences that can change the trajectory of a young person’s life.
I want our readers to know that Elevate H.E.R. Academy is about more than telling young people what they should do. We help them discover who they are and give them tools to become the person they are capable of becoming.
My greatest hope is that every young person who comes through our programs walks away knowing one thing:
“My circumstances do not define me. My choices, my character, my vision, and the person I choose to become matter.”
That is the heart of Elevate H.E.R. Academy and that is the legacy I want the brand to leave.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
First and foremost, I have to give all glory to God. I truly believe that everything I have accomplished has been possible because of His grace, guidance, and purpose for my life. My journey has not always been easy, but my faith has given me the strength to keep moving forward.
I also have to recognize my sister, Deborah Mallory, who has always been one of my greatest supporters and cheerleaders. Her encouragement and belief in me have meant more than she probably realizes.
My son, Bernard Mallory, has also been a tremendous source of inspiration for me. He reminds me that what I am building is bigger than myself and motivates me to continue creating a legacy that can positively impact others.
Another important part of my journey has been my experience volunteering with various mentorship programs. Those experiences allowed me to learn from others, receive guidance, understand the importance of mentorship, and see firsthand how meaningful it can be when someone takes the time to invest in another person’s growth.
I have also been blessed by the people who have supported my books, my film, my speaking engagements, and Elevate H.E.R. Academy. Every person who has encouraged me, opened a door, shared my work, attended a program, or simply told me to keep going has played a part in the journey.
I don’t believe success is ever achieved alone. There are always people whose prayers, encouragement, wisdom, support, and belief help you become who you are meant to be.
