Today we’d like to introduce you to Dee Brown.

Hi Dee, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself. 
My journey in the beauty industry began with a deep passion for makeup skincare and a desire to help others feel confident and beautiful in their own skin. I pursued formal education and became a licensed esthetician, which marked the starting point of my professional career. 

In 2019, I took a significant step towards realizing my dream by founding Alluring Artistry Beauty + Wellness Spa. At the heart of this venture was a commitment to providing a safe haven for those seeking professional beauty services. This drive stems from a personal experience I had with a non-certified lash technician, which prompted me to ensure ethical practices and education are integral parts of my client’s experiences. 

Since becoming a certified lash technician in 2019 and furthering my education in 2021 to become a licensed esthetician, my life has transformed. Lashing has instilled in me patience and reinforced the notion that practice truly does make perfect. What I cherish most about being an esthetician is the opportunity to enhance natural beauty. Every client I have the privilege to serve is uniquely beautiful, and it brings me joy to help them shine. Building individual relationships with each of my clients is a treasured aspect of my work. They’ve not only shared beauty tips but have also entrusted me with personal advice, which I deeply appreciate. 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While my journey in the beauty industry has been incredibly rewarding, it hasn’t been without its challenges. Like any profession, there have been moments of uncertainty and obstacles to overcome. 

The main obstacle I faced was the fact that I was years into a whole career when I decided to pursue becoming an esthetician and entrepreneur. I would obsessively ask myself: “Do I walk away from the career I worked so hard for?” There were times I worked 60+ hour weeks trying to maintain the two. Working a full-time 9-5 and lashing in the evenings/weekends became exhausting. I had to make a tough decision. 

Establishing myself as a reputable esthetician was another obstacle. It took time to build a clientele and earn trust within the community. Additionally, staying current with the constantly evolving beauty industry required a significant investment of time and effort. 

Transitioning into an educational role also presented its own set of challenges. Balancing the demands of teaching while maintaining a hands-on approach to skincare treatments required careful planning and adaptability. 

However, each of these challenges has been a valuable learning opportunity. They’ve allowed me to grow both personally and professionally and have ultimately contributed to the success and fulfillment I find in my career today.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years, I envision the beauty industry experiencing some remarkable shifts and trends. There will be a continued emphasis on inclusivity and diversity. The industry is finally acknowledging the importance of making products for a wide range of skin tones, textures, and types, ensuring that everyone feels seen and valued in their beauty routines. 

We can expect to see the integration of AI. Personalization will also be a key focus, with tailored regimens and treatments becoming the norm. The use of AI-powered diagnostics and virtual consultations will enhance the client experience. 

I also think sustainability will remain a dominant theme. Everyone is getting more and more eco-conscious, and there will be a growing demand for clean, sustainable beauty products and practices. 

Overall, the beauty industry is poised for exciting growth and evolution. By embracing these trends and remaining dedicated to the highest standards of professionalism and ethics, I’m confident that Alluring Artistry will continue to thrive and make a positive impact on the beauty landscape.
