Community Highlights: Meet Deb Kalsbeek of FemPro Business Society

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deb Kalsbeek.

Deb, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was raised by entrepreneur parents so I was raised in business. Growing up I worked in my dad’s business, I learned business firsthand from him. I graduated a year early and started my first business by the time I was 17 years old. I started as a photographer and have since grown to owning a photography studio, business coach for high achieving entrepreneurs, and a not-for-profit.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being an entrepreneur can be rough. It is hard to find a good balance between business, life, and learning to stay in your realm of genius. Learning how and when to outsource, automate, and no longer wear all the hats it takes to run a successful business. Personally, I had to learn these things from experience. It is one of the reasons I became a coach. To show others the steps on how to set up a thriving business so that they don’t run themselves into burn out.

As you know, we’re big fans of FemPro Business Society. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Thank you so much! We are a central hub for business growth. From our FREE #GRBossBabes Facebook group to e-courses, podcasts, trainings, brand photography, and our Stuck to thriving small business program. We are here to help small businesses create systems within their business that allow them to get their time back. That allows them to enjoy their most beautiful life by design. Life is too short to be chained down by your business.

What sets us apart is that we fully believe in community over competition. There is enough for everyone and there is always room at our table for you.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I believe the things we learned over the pandemic are going to be for the best. We learned how to shift our businesses in order to not just survive but to thrive.

I believe we will remain online. I think we will have a lot more people following their dreams and starting businesses. Gone are the days of working a job that makes us feel miserable and doesn’t serve us. There are so many opportunities ahead for small business owners. First thing first, you have to take the leap and start. Progress, not perfection.
