Today we’d like to introduce you to David Fraser.
Hi David, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
So, Bunkie Life started as a solution to our own family’s problem: we ran out of bedrooms when we had our first daughter. Where were we going to put my parents when they came to visit? An exhausting look at all the options had us discover the idea of a Bunkie: a small log cabin kit that we could build for ourselves that would basically be an extra bedroom in the backyard. We started renting ours out, and it was a smash success, so we built 3 more then started making them for other people. From there, Bunkie Life has grown to a 15,000-square-foot manufacturing facility, a staff of over 25 individuals, and, best of all, happy clients all over North America from coast to coast.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
In the early days, we had many heartbreaks and sleepless nights. Covid presented a ton of supply chain challenges and logistical headaches. We’ve grown despite it all and tried our best to make sure that we live our own motto of “Family First.”
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Bunkie Life?
Bunkie Life is famous for small log cabin kits that can be easily built in a weekend without needing a permit or a second mortgage. Ultimately, we help families create extra space for more meaningful connection. We’ve very proud of the fact we’re the first to manufacture bunkies in North America and have served families from coast to coast. We’ve also raised over $100,000 towards Ronald McDonald House Charities.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Our clients: we’re lucky to have some of the most generous, intelligent, and helpful clients in the world! Almost all of our innovations and ideas have come directly from listening to our clients and trying to improve based on their feedback!
