Community Highlights: Meet Crystal Yeager of Sistah’s Braid Too!

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Yeager.

Crystal, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Hi, my name is Crystal Yeager and I started Sistah’s Braid Too! in 2009, in an effort to provide women and families with a comfortable, professional atmosphere that’s safe and clean. We shatter stereotypes and represent American black women’s heritage and values in the best way we know-how. For so long, we feel black women and men have found a lack in the customer care that they’ve received in this industry. Therefore, as a business, we strive to address these concerns, while also empowering other women at a commercial level to change the stigma around being unprofessional and hard to work with. With a desire to engender change in our society we begin by making an impact here: our community.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the struggles we continue to face is instilling a strong work ethic in talented women and men who share our gift. The talent is there, but the professionalism is not.

Simply knowing how local government works was also challenging, along with the fear of rejection from banks and other lending sources.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
