Hi Cassandra, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
For as long as I can remember as a child, I was born into fashion. My great great grandmother, Mrs. Nelly Ewing. was the 1st generation of seamstress. She enjoyed making speciality custom garments and was so great at it, she then later, made a career of it, introducing our family to the World of High-end custom-tailored fashion.
While attending South Carolina State University majoring in Political Science and minoring in business in 2003, I was unsure of what I really wanted to do but I knew I had a love for fashion since I was born.
Thereafter, graduating in 2007, I would find myself running into dead-end jobs or employment that didn’t promote growth or leadership. Failing short not gaining a professional career, I found my gift and entrepreneurial spirit. If no door opens you have to create one!
Moving forward, I started selling shoes from the trunk of my car, from styling celebrities to online sales, and now recently celebrating Rich&Rare Clothing Boutique 1st mortar and brick Grand Opening August 13, 2022, where we located at 876 S. Grove Street Suite 1, Ypsilanti, Michigan 48198 and been successful since.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The fashion industry is a billionaire industry, where you must renew, and reevaluate in order to progress. The retail market is also a competitive market where our company, Rich&Rare Clothing Boutique prides on keeping up with the latest technology and richest products. We’ve had challenges but we’ve kept true to our core values and exceed expectations.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I like the Best about our City of Ypsilanti is our Rich History and Culture. Growing up in the inner city of Brooklyn, NYC it’s hard to appreciate all of what’s to offer because of the daily hustle. However, since I’ve lived in Ypsilanti, Michigan for the past 6 years I’ve admired the culture and love people have for our City of Ypsilanti.
I least like about the city the lack of variety of food but recently knew food companies have been opening up so I foresee more restaurants coming to our wonderful city of Ypsilanti, Michigan.
