Hi Carly, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Skerbeck Family Carnival has entertained generations of people throughout the United States since the late 1800’s. Based out of Escanaba, with a Michigan centered route, we travel creating joy, excitement, and a fun family experience. It’s no surprise we’re a family run business. Bill & CJ Skerbeck have instilled integrity, a strong work ethic, and partnership, into each of their children, Bob, Dustin & Carly. And along with their spouses Jamee, Cindy, and Jeff respectively, they ensure every event is a success.
Skerbeck Family Carnival provides a full midway experience. With dozens of rides, fun game concessions, and crave worthy food vendors. PLUS guest amenities like seating, ATM’s, and hand sanitizers. Whether you’re looking to bring your family to the local fair or your the President of the festival, we provide the full package.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
“The show must go on.” Of course with any business, each generation has dealt with similar and different obstacles. As a travelling carnival company we know not all roads will be smooth, but take on the challenge. Our ancestors immigrated from Bohemia in Europe starting as a travelling circus later evolving to a carnival in the early 1900’s. Struggles very large and global like World war II and the covid pandemic; as well as more industry related such as the labor force, production times on equipment and tariffs, and succession planning-both among our family and for events we partner with.
