Today we’d like to introduce you to Zoriah Taylor
Hi Zoriah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
At 20, I began my journey into modeling, which I pursued for about two and a half years. However, in 2024, I shifted my focus to my art business, ArtbyZoriah, which I originally started during my freshman year of college as a side hustle. Since then, I’ve been expanding my brand, connecting with incredible people, and incorporating my psychology degree into my creative process.
I now specialize in canvas work, digital art, face and body painting, and even explore baking as a creative outlet. I’m actively working to grow my business by pursuing mural projects and collaborating with local artists on unique pieces, including clothing and large-scale artworks.
While I paused my modeling career to focus on my art, I’ve recently begun rediscovering my passion for it, alongside my love for photography. I now enjoy being both in front of and behind the camera, adding another layer to my creative pursuits.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey to this point has been filled with both highs and lows. Balancing college, navigating anxiety and depression, and facing numerous life changes and roadblocks along the way have all been part of the process.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Oakland University after four years of dedicated study. I’ve always been passionate about understanding the human brain and exploring why people think and act the way they do. Completing my degree was a significant achievement, as I remained determined and focused on my goals despite the challenges I faced. What sets me apart is my personal experience with mental health struggles, as well as growing up in a family where mental health has been a prominent factor. This deeply personal connection fueled my interest in psychology and my desire to better understand the complexities of the human mind.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Starting a business and staying committed to it has been one of the biggest risks I’ve taken. As a CEO wearing many hats, the workload can be overwhelming, but believing in myself and my vision has been key. Earlier this year, I took a major leap by showcasing my mental health project something I’ve been passionate about and dreaming of for a long time. Sharing it with the world felt like a significant risk, but putting it out there for my audience to connect with and look forward to was a bold and necessary step toward bringing my vision to life.
