Hi Veta, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Veta McFall – VETAART – Artist Statement:
My work begins where certainty ends. It is an exploration of what happens when we release control and allow something new and deeper to emerge.
“I just keep layering until I love it. Until I like it enough to stop. But every layer matters…there are no mistakes.”
For over a decade, I worked as a commissioned portrait artist, building a brand rooted in precision and skill. I was highly attuned to detail—every eyelash, every reflection, carefully observed and translated.
My October 2025 Exhibition, titled “The 1985 Series”, a collection of 100 large scale paintings, marked a pivotal shift in my practice. Each painting was numbered, not titled, so the meaning belongs to the viewer, not the artist. The series was not a decision— it was a surrender. A release of control. A return to instinct and trust. It was an artistic and human transformation.
The current Series, titled “Stories”, brings my personal narrative back in. I now share the stories that emerge from each painting, and the lessons and meaning. I no longer paint to prove. I paint to discover. My work lives in this space— between who we are today, and who we can become.
I approach my art with Curiosity, open to the lessons and the connections that arise. The paintings are not answers, they are Invitations. To pause. To listen.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Every challenge is an opportunity. I have used my art to challenge my ego to not need to display or prove. It has been my vehicle of personal transformation.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialized in large-scale, dramatic portraits, which captured likeness in precise detail. In time, I realized I was creating within the expectations of others, not in service of my own spirit. I chose to pause on that work, and started developing my new genre of expressive, intuitive art work. My work now flows through me, rather than from me.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Authenticity. Curiosity. Using artwork as a teacher and an avenue for expansion. It is the artist’s work to create what has not yet existed. I share my process of each piece I create, and share the story and lessons that arise from the experience of creating.
