Check Out Tyrell Shaff’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyrell Shaff.

Hi Tyrell, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hi, my name is Tyrell

My photography career started 4 years ago, in 2018, when I was a sophomore in high school. The thing that got me into photography was my Uncle Kenn. He really inspired me to get into photography after him. He was in the field of photography for more than 45 years. I remembered he gave me a textbook that contained the knowledge behind photography and the history of photography. After I learned photography from textbooks, I then proceeded to take a photography class in high school and met my longtime Friend Collin Bertch. I then got better over the years with my photos. Even though I am half blind, nothing stopped me from taking pictures and telling stories through my photographs. Lately, I’ve just been taking senior portraits and doing freelance photography on the side. I honestly really enjoy taking photos while capturing great moments and meeting amazing people. The people who really inspired me are my friends and family because, without them, I wouldn’t be capturing great memories.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My challenge was people doubting me that a half-blind person can’t take great photos

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in freelance and portrait photography. I am known for my photos and how it captures the viewers’ attention.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
The main takeaway thing I’ve learned during the COVID-19 crisis was that you have to adopt to an ever so changing world. You also have to realize that. The industry that you are in will probably will never be the same. I also learned that all of us have t0 work together and just put away our differences that we may have.
