Today we’d like to introduce you to Trisha Nester.
Hi Trisha, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started with about $200 and high hopes. I had made my products for myself and family for awhile then with the encouragement of friends and family I started to sell on Facebook and local craft shows. I have grown since then to a website, more products and social media sales.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been struggles along the way of course like any other business I assume. Not making sales at in person craft shows, paying more for the spot than I brought home. Trying to balance work life with home life. My business is ran from my home so sometimes focusing on the right thing at the right time. House work and school, product development, etc. I also have a mini farm. But, with the help of social media I’ve been able to cut back on in person craft shows to spend more time with my husband and kids.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I started this making body scrubs that turned into lip balms, then body oils, then body butters. It has been a fun learning experience. Learning about the different oils and their benefits. Which oils cross over to each product. Its really opened my mind and creativity in how they can all be used and see what else I can make. The testing faze is always a fun and learning opportunity. I’ve recently branched out to making natural dry shampoo. I’ve been selling it about 3 to 4 months. Its my number one top seller on all formats. I sell on TikTok, Facebook, my own website, in two local stores and in person craft and vendor shows. I cant really say what sets me apart from others. I can say I am proud of the products that I make and believe in the quality and benefits of using them.
What makes you happy?
The thing that makes me happy about doing business is the word from the customers! I always love hearing the reviews! Even the bad ones. Which thankfully is not often! Repeat customers that come back and rave and do repeat orders. It really makes me feel good to know that others love my products like I do.
