Check Out Steven Howard’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Howard.

Steven, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Let me introduce myself.

I measure the world not by distance, but by connection. My passport tells part of my story—stamps from Germany’s orderly streets, Singapore’s humming skyline, the sun-warmed corners of Italy, the quiet majesty of Switzerland, the rhythmic energy of Spain, and the timeless charm of France. But the real journey always begins beyond the airports and postcards.

Wherever I go, I look for people before places. In Berlin cafés, I listen more than I speak. In Singapore, I’m inspired by how communities thrive through cooperation. In Italian neighborhoods and Spanish plazas, I learn how belonging is built through shared meals and open doors. Among the Alps and along French side streets, I’m drawn to the same truth: strong communities are rooted in care.

Travel isn’t an escape for me—it’s an education. Every country leaves me more curious, more grounded, and more committed to giving back. Community outreach isn’t a side project in my life; it’s the thread that ties all my journeys together. Seeing the world only matters to me if I return home ready to serve it better.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Some seasons of my life have been heavier than others. I grew up in the inner city of Detroit, where resilience wasn’t a choice—it was a necessity. Losing my father at a young age forced me to grow up fast, carrying questions and responsibilities long before I had answers. Those early losses shaped how I see the world: with grit, empathy, and an understanding that strength is often born from survival. Even when things have been difficult, I’ve learned to keep moving forward, honoring where I come from while building something better ahead.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My healthcare career has spanned over 12 years, and it’s been a journey built step by step. I started on the ground level as a patient transporter, learning firsthand the importance of compassion and reliability. I grew into managing scheduling for 14 ophthalmology clinics across southwest Michigan, balancing operations, access, and patient care on a large scale. Today, I serve at the federal level, working in benefit administration for veterans, ensuring those who served receive the support they’ve earned. Every role has strengthened my commitment to service and reinforced why this work matters to me.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Due to my extensive international travel experience I’ve started to curate trips for others looking to expand there knowledge of the world via travel
