Check Out Ronnie Goble’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronnie Goble.

Hi Ronnie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I became a follower of Jesus in college when God saved me from my sin and gave me a purpose that was way bigger than myself. After getting married in 2013, I started serving on staff at our local church in Bowling Green, OH and training to become a pastor. This was definitely not my plan when I entered college but God has a funny way of changing our plans!

After several years of serving churches in Ohio and Wisconsin, my family and I moved back to Metro Detroit to start Rooted Church in 2024! My family and I are thrilled to team up with the other members of Rooted Church to offer the hope of Jesus to Metro Detroit.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a new church from scratch includes many of the same challenges that all entrepreneurs face. We’ve had to persevere in raising money, building a team, finding a space to meet and building this one week at a time. Patience and endurance is hard, especially in a culture of instant gratification. We are tired but very thankful to God for how he has led us and provided for us through these challenges!

In addition to these obstacles, I must say that the greatest threat to our church is our own sinfulness and self reliance. God is good but the Devil is evil and hates that our church exists. He hates the message of hope we proclaim and wants to discourage us from following the Lord and loving people like Jesus. We face this obstacle on our knees as people of prayer who are constantly turning away from sin and self reliance to depend on Christ.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a pastor working to start a new church called Rooted in Royal Oak, MI. Our church is known for holding to the historic Christian faith while engaging our modern culture. We preach and teach the Bible and it’s message of grace for broken people. We build community among people from many different backgrounds and stages of life. We serve the community around us in the name of Jesus and for his glory alone. We want to be a church that grows up out of the soil of Metro Detroit and pours back into these communities that we love.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love Royal Oak and the Woodward Corridor communities! We planted Rooted Church here because of the density and diversity of the population. We wanted to bring a message of hope and renewal to the thousands of people who live, work and recreate in these communities! Royal Oak is a great mix of the history and next generation of Metro Detroit and we love being a part of it.
