Today we’d like to introduce you to Nani Sweet.

Nani, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin? 
Ever since I was young, I have had a passion for baking. I wasn’t able to pursue that dream directly out of high school like I had wanted. But to my surprise, the opportunity presented itself to me years later as I enjoyed my maternity leave with my first daughter in 2019. I was learning the balance of becoming a mom and still making time for my passions… struggling with the feeling of sadness, thinking I’d have to leave my baby and return to work soon, I chose to focus on the positive and change my perspective. We spent hours and hours in the kitchen – learning how to make French Macarons and studying the technique. I fell in love with baking all over again with these delicate and delicious cookies. I quit my day job, and with my daughter by my side, while covered in powdered sugar as we laughed, danced, and baked macarons – Simply Sweet Confections was born. 

4 years later we’re still here making handcrafted French Macarons in creative and unique modern flavors that are loved by many in our community. 

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a blessing to run my business while also juggling being a mom and wife, but it has come with challenges. Most of my days are filled with chaos and cookies, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Like many small businesses, we were blindsided by a global pandemic. Although it came with a unique set of challenges, it also opened the door for us to focus on delivery, which broadened our customer base while also keeping the public safe. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At Simply Sweet Confections, we specialize in custom handcrafted French Macarons with a twist. Our goal is to give traditional macarons a whimsical makeover by using modern flavors and unique shapes and designs that leave you in awe! 

I’m most proud of how many ways we’ve successfully made macarons into something ‘new’ and fun and almost too cute to eat – Macaron Lollipops, push pops, shape macarons in endless designs, and our new mackrispies and mini cakes topped with macaron art are such a big hit! Creating these confections has been such a fun experience, and seeing the response from our customers makes us so happy. 

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
The passion behind the baking for me is that I get the honor to bake something special for you and your loved ones. Getting to be a part of those special moments is such a privilege to me.
