Check Out Monica Ross-Williams’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Monica Ross-Williams.

Hi Monica, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always believed that when life gives you an open door, you walk through it — even if it leads you somewhere unexpected. My journey began in public service as an elected official, where I spent nearly a decade focused on community policy, ethics, and access. Those years shaped my understanding of how systems impact people’s everyday lives — especially when it comes to healthcare.

When I founded MRW Solutions Group, it wasn’t just about launching a business; it was about creating a space where individuals, families, and seniors could receive clear, transparent guidance on insurance decisions that affect their quality of life. I started with a small client base and a vision to make “Insurance. Made. Simple.” Over time, that vision turned into a growing, trusted agency serving communities across Michigan.

Today, as both the Founding Partner of MRW Solutions Group and Executive Director of Educate Seminar Series & Events, my focus is still the same — empowering people through knowledge. We’ve built a team that values transparency, compassion, and doing more than what’s required. This journey has been less about titles and more about purpose — building trust, breaking down barriers, and ensuring people feel seen and supported.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No, it hasn’t been smooth — and honestly, that’s where the real growth happened. Building something meaningful means walking through obstacles most people never see. One of the biggest challenges has been navigating constant changes in the healthcare and insurance industry. Regulations shift, carrier priorities change, and those shifts directly affect the seniors, families, and small business owners we work so hard to protect.

Another challenge has been building trust in a space where so many have felt overlooked or dismissed. As a Black female business owner in a highly regulated industry, I often had to fight twice as hard to be heard — not just for myself, but for the communities I represent. Those experiences were tough, but they shaped me.

Every obstacle became a stepping stone. Those barriers didn’t break our mission — they defined it. They turned MRW Solutions Group into a transparent, community-centered, and trusted voice for the people we serve.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At MRW Solutions Group, we specialize in helping individuals, families, and seniors navigate the often-confusing world of insurance with confidence. Our primary focus is on Medicare, Marketplace health coverage, Life Insurance, and Financial Wellness solutions. But what we truly do goes far beyond just enrolling someone in a plan — we educate, advocate, and empower.

We’re known for breaking down complex insurance language into clear, actionable steps so people can make informed choices that protect their health and financial future. I’m especially proud of how our work doesn’t just stop at the policy level — we host community education seminars, offer one-on-one consultations, and partner with trusted organizations to ensure our clients feel supported every step of the way.

What sets us apart is our commitment to transparency, trust, and doing more than what’s required. We don’t approach insurance as a transaction — we treat it as a relationship. Every client matters, and their story guides how we serve. That’s why so many of our clients don’t just stay with us year after year — they refer their loved ones, too.

Our impact is measured not only in policies but in peace of mind — and that’s what I’m most proud of.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Most people know me as the insurance strategist, the advocate, or the woman behind MRW Solutions Group. What they don’t always know is that my journey started in public service — long before launching a business. I spent nearly a decade as an elected official, focused on ethics, transparency, and expanding access. That foundation is why I lead with such a strong sense of responsibility and why doing what’s right for people will always be at the heart of my work.

But here’s the fun part: I’m also a huge sports fan — and when I say huge, I mean season-schedule-memorized kind of fan. I’m all in for Detroit teams: the Tigers, Lions, and Pistons. Game days aren’t just entertainment for me; they’re a way to unwind, connect with community, and celebrate the energy of this city. Sports keep me grounded — they remind me that passion, resilience, and teamwork aren’t just for the court or the field. They’re how I lead in business, too.
