Check Out Melani Savich’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melani Savich

Hi Melani, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My passion for makeup started early, inspired by my mother, who would do my makeup for dance recitals when I was a little girl. I would sneak into her makeup stash whenever she wasn’t around, fascinated by the colors and techniques. In high school, I was known for wearing bold makeup looks—while most of my classmates kept it simple, I’d spend extra hours each morning experimenting with new trends.

After high school, I enrolled in community college but quickly realized that I wasn’t happy. My dad saw this and encouraged me to follow my passion for makeup. That’s when I decided to attend Makeup Designory in New York, where I completed their 812-hour Master Make-up Artist Program. Initially, I had my sights set on working in the film and television industry, but after graduating during the height of COVID, the opportunities were scarce.

Returning to Michigan, I pivoted to bridal makeup, and since 2021, I’ve been helping brides look and feel their best on their big day. In May 2024, I further expanded my skillset by graduating from the Brighton Institute of Cosmetology and obtaining my esthetician license. Now, through my business, Melicious Makeup & Esthetics, I offer a range of services including makeup, facials, lash extensions, and waxing!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The road has definitely had its bumps, with COVID being the biggest challenge. In the middle of my program, the pandemic forced the school to close, and I had to return to Michigan for several months while waiting for it to reopen. When classes resumed, the environment had changed drastically. There were new sanitary protocols, and many of my classmates didn’t return, which made it feel like starting over in some ways.

After graduating, I had planned to enter the film and television industry, but with productions at a standstill due to COVID, there were no job opportunities for months. It was a difficult time, trying to figure out my next steps in a world that had come to a halt.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
My primary focus is makeup artistry, with a special emphasis on bridal makeup. I’ve had the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, from doing makeup for models at Michigan Fashion Week to editorial shoots with Wilhelmina Models in New York. While I specialize in glamorous, polished looks, I tailor my work to ensure each client feels uniquely beautiful.

What I’m most proud of is my ability to make every client feel confident and radiant, whether it’s a bride on her wedding day or a model on set. What sets me apart is my attention to detail, my passion for the craft, and my ability to create flawless, long-lasting looks that enhance each individual’s natural beauty.

What makes you happy?
Aside from personal joys, what truly makes me happy is every aspect of my work—it never feels like a job. I love being able to connect with my clients, sharing laughs and building bonds, especially on their most memorable and special days. Whether I’m working with brides on their wedding day or clients at my suite in Brighton, Michigan, through Melicious Makeup & Esthetics, it’s always fulfilling. The personal connections I make are what keep me passionate and energized about what I do.
