Check Out Maya Black’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maya Black

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a serial entrepreneur with a passion for music, business, and personal growth. My journey began in 2019 when I started rapping as an independent artist and dropped my first song and video, “Retarded.” Not long after, I became a young, single mother to my beautiful daughter, Milan. Becoming a mother was one of the hardest things I’ve ever experienced, and it brought a whole new set of challenges into my life. But it also gave me the motivation I needed to keep going. My daughter is my biggest inspiration, and everything I do is for her. I want her to know that she can do anything she sets her mind to, and I’ll be there to support her every step of the way.

I’m involved in a number of different ventures. I manage a Detroit rap artist named Burnz Garelli (@burnz_garelli), and I handle the logistics of his music career. I believe in his talent and know he’s going to be the next big thing out of Detroit. His flow and lyrics are something special, and once the right person hears him, it’ll be just a matter of time before he blows up. He’s already collaborated with some incredible artists from Detroit, including Babyface Ray, Vezze, Samuel Shabazz, WB Nutty, and 1800it Productions.

Along with music management, I’m also a tax professional at Credible Tax Services. I help individuals maximize their tax refunds and ensure they have a stress-free experience with their returns. In addition to that, I work at Modern7 Bistro, a Black-owned soul food restaurant that serves some of the best food in Michigan, and I’m also a brand ambassador for Modern7 Bistro as well as the makeup brand Faces by Asi (@facesbyasi).

I also love content creation and work as a waitress, constantly juggling my various roles. I’m a true believer in the hustle and the grind, and I’m always pushing to grow and learn. Every day, I work to set a positive example for my daughter, showing her that with determination, you can overcome any challenge and achieve your dreams.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Having a baby at a young age while dealing with postpartum was really challenging. When my daughter was just 5 months old, her father was sent to jail for two years. He was released in February of 2024, and since then, he’s been back in her life, making up for all the time he missed.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in a variety of areas, from music management to tax services, content creation, and being a brand ambassador. I’m known for my diverse skill set, entrepreneurial spirit, and ability to juggle multiple roles at once while staying committed to my ultimate goal of setting an example for my daughter, Milan.

In music, I manage Detroit rap artist Burnz Garelli (@burnz_garelli), helping him navigate the logistics of his music career. I believe in his potential and his unique sound, and I’m confident that he’s going to be the next big rap artist out of Detroit. His lyrics and flow stand out, and he’s already collaborated with some well-known Detroit artists like Babyface Ray, Vezze, and WB Nutty. What sets me apart in this space is my belief in his music and my dedication to making sure his career gets to the next level.

I also work as a tax professional at Credible Tax Services, specializing in refund maximization and providing a stress-free tax experience. I help individuals make the most out of their returns and provide expert guidance to simplify what can often be a complicated process.

Beyond that, I work at Modern7 Bistro, a Black-owned soul food restaurant that’s known for serving some of the best food in Michigan. As a brand ambassador for Modern7 Bistro and Faces by Asi (@facesbyasi), I’m constantly working to elevate these brands and help them grow.

What I’m most proud of is how I’ve been able to balance all these different roles while being a single mother and a role model for Milan. It hasn’t been easy, but my daughter is my motivation to keep pushing forward, and everything I do is with her in mind.

What sets me apart from others is my hustle, determination, and ability to stay focused on my goals despite the challenges I face. I take pride in being a multifaceted entrepreneur who thrives in different areas and uses my platform to help others succeed. Whether it’s managing talent, providing tax services, or representing brands, I put everything I have into what I do, and I’m always looking for ways to grow and give back.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My mom deserves a lot of credit for the success I’ve had, especially during the first two years of my daughter Milan’s life. She supported me in such a major way, helping me juggle everything while I navigated the challenges of being a young, single mom. Without her, I wouldn’t have been able to stay as focused on building my career and managing all my different ventures. Her love, encouragement, and practical support made all the difference during a time when I needed it most.

I also have to acknowledge the artists and collaborators I’ve worked with, like Burnz Garelli (@burnz_garelli), whose belief in his own music has inspired me to stay committed to his journey as his manager. We’ve built a great partnership, and I’m lucky to be part of his growth and success. Burnz’s talent and determination keep me motivated, and I truly believe that together, we’ll take his career to new heights.
