Check Out Madison Gasser’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Madison Gasser.

Hi Madison, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up I was an artistic and creative person. I was always looking for crafts to do and making things up on my own. My mom (Emma Gasser) constantly took pictures, got a nice fancy camera, and started doing photography as a side job. I would mess around with her camera and asked for my own. I received my first digital camera at a young age; it was small and my favorite color, purple. Getting older I got into photography more once I started middle school. I joined any art or film class I could, but high school is where my whole journey took off. High school offered me actual photography classes where I got to learn even more. My mom gifted me her old canon camera and I took my learning from photography out of the classroom teaching myself even more. I began asking my friends to model for me and brought my camera everywhere I went. Editing is one of my strong point and the most important step with my photography work. I love to tell stories through my photos and have people truly enjoy what I’ve created for them. I’m now in college continuing to pursue my dreams of becoming a professional photographer.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Trying to become the photographer I am today has not been easy at all. I grew up around people that seemed to always get everything handed to them or get whatever they wanted. Photography comes with a lot of expenses due to the equipment you need. I was lucky enough to have my mom as a photographer as well so I’ve always gotten the handy down camera. Other than the expenses of photography, a big part is communication, time, and patience. I have struggled with severe anxiety and ADHD my whole life so figuring these little things out with my work in photography became difficult. I’m not the best at being open and talking to strangers but I’ve found the photography has helped me with my struggles tremendously. I use photography as my escape. it keeps my calm, focus, and it’s something I have so much fun doing.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My creativity with photography goes a long way. I’ve always taken risks and tried a ton of different techniques to make my work more unique to my style. I love telling stories and creating emotion. During my high school photography years, we had art shows at the end of every semester and my edited photos always seemed to grab the most attention. I always find new editing ideas and want to make everything perfect! It’s exciting to see other people love what I do and be surprised that I can do these things at such a young age.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs, or other resources you think our readers should check out?
For me, Adobe helps with absolutely everything! I use adobe to edit my photos, create my website, and make flyers or posts for my social accounts. Another resource I use is Pinterest to help me with ideas as well as TikTok. Lastly, I use my blog to help me create unique artists’ photos that aren’t always used on my photography socials
