Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Mattern.
Hi Lisa, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I purchased my Cruise Planners franchise in August 2011. It started because I love to travel and plan trips. We were looking for a long-term “retirement plan” and this was the way to go. Flash forward to 14 (almost 15) years later.. I have grown my business selling over $800K annually by being focused on my clients’ needs and wants. I guide them in directions to maximize their budgets, have a “stress-free trip, and build a personal relationship with them. I have built my business on referrals and reviews because I have built that relationship.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road. Struggles (besides COVID) are the internet and online promises. AI generated material gives many people a false sense of what they are getting and it is my responsibility to educate them on the reality. That is why it is so important for me to experience my destinations and products first hand.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
First, I also work a weekday FT job as an Office Manager. I also run my travel business FT so I know how to manage multiple projects. I specialize in building relationships both with my clients and my suppliers. I am very detail-oriented which enables me to ensure all travel components are covered. What sets me apart is that I still believe in a “face-to-face” with my local clients. I meet them at a local wine bar (supporting local business) and review their travel documents. My repeat clients look forward to their meetings!
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
At the age of 9 I experienced a life-changing event that helped mold me into who I am today. I was fortunate to experience international travel as a teen so that helped me with my love to travel.
