Today we’d like to introduce you to Lewis “louie Lee” Hensley
Lewis “Louie Lee”, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I grew up downriver from Detroit. My parents divorced at a young age and I would split my time between Taylor and New Boston Michigan out in New Boston. I live on a dirt road and trailer park and Taylor live in an apartment surrounded by woods. I was always interested in music growing up, but it wasn’t until my stepdad and mom got me my first guitar and sixth grade that I really started committing to it full-time. As the years passed and bands I was in fell apart I started taking myself more serious as a solo artist. It was then I was offered a job for the Premier cover bands, Fifty Amp Fuse and Your Generation In Concert. During Covid and shows slowing down, I decided to take my education more serious as a recording engineer so that I could start becoming a full-time music producer for myself and other artists in Michigan. During that time, I also lost a lot of people close to me to Covid and in honoring them I created my project Louie Lee. I made music therapy to heal my pain and I call it Country Hop And Roll. The Louie Lee Show starring Louie Lee is now my full-time focus and I spend day today working on it with my team to make it something successful for everyone involved.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There was lots of challenges along the way in 2012. I had to have Vocal surgery and I had to go a whole month without talking 12 weeks of speech therapy to get my voice back. I’m proud to say it’s stronger than ever when I was a kid at six years old, I had to have tubes put in my ears. Well, it was challenging to be the kid with waxing his ears at the pool during summer. I credited it to be character building.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Music Producer/Recording engineer by day and entertainer/artist by night
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Focus on your art for yourself and not for others. If you truly love it then others will see that and they will join in on the love. Try not to be self serving when promoting it. Allow others to enjoy it on their own.
